The NFL Thread

I must have got the bit wrong where you mentioned players hit with less force now than they used to.

If I did then have up. We're you saying that?

Because if you were then you're wrong, players are, bigger, stronger and faster than they ever were.

If you weren't then what were you saying?

NCAA players are on average experiencing less forceful impacts than NFL players

NCAA has no oversight. I’ve seen so many players get knocked out and reappear later in the game and almost always come back the next week.

Your whole thing about Tua just shows you don’t know the facts. The neurosurgeon said his motor control came from his back injury, that was his diagnosis. That’s why he was allowed to play. That has now been changed to have no gray area.
You keep mentioning this neurosurgeon.

It s a fact (TV pictures) which show Tua hit his head on the ground and he lost motor control.

He fails the TBI test on that and should be withdrawn from play. That's it, that's the first part of the test.

I don’t think my position is difficult to understand. The NFL is responsible for ensuring the safety of the players. The experienced neurologist they hired said that Tua did not have a concussion and that he lost motor control because of his back injury and he had no neurological injury. That’s a failure on the part of the doctor hired by the NFL to me.

If that is the case then yes absolutely.

But the bit you're missing is the coaching staff have a duty of care. If it's suspected that Tua is not healthy then the staff should pull him from play.

The coaching staff hid behind a decision when it was obvious to the world and his dog Tua wasn't right.

That is not looking after player welfare.

I just don’t think it’s reasonable to say someone with no medical training should know better than a specialist with decades of experience.

If it comes out that Tua told the staff he thought he had a concussion or that he might then sure. But nothing to this point suggests he would’ve let anyone in on that.

The key point I think is that the symptoms we all saw were explained by the doctor as coming from the back injury.

We're going round in circles now.

The test is designed to be simple. You don't need to be a doctor to carry it out.

Tua failed it, the doctor got it wrong (acknowledged) and was subsequently gone. The coach then had a responsibility to act. He didn't.

Problem with that is, it's clear to see from the TV pictures he hit his head.

Protocol dictates that it should be considered a head injury first and foremost.

So Wildcard weekend is nearly upon us so prediction time. I think the Bills, 49ers and Bengals are comfortable winners. The other 3 I can see being close.
Giants v Vikings is the battle of the one score game winners. I'm predicting the upset, but equally Jefferson could go off
Bucs vs Cowboys. Brady is 7-0 against them including twice in the last 2 years, but the Bucs aren't a good team. Cowboys
Jags vs Chargers. For me this is on Mike Williams who hasn't practiced all week. If he plays and is himself I think they win, if not then the Jags, holding back my 6 fold bet until he status is clear on Saturday

Post season predictor. Here's mine.

Williams is out. If they lose tomorrow Staley deserves to be sacked for his team selection last week. Jags are my pick now

Yep leaving his starters in the game well into the third quarter was just stupidity beyond belief. Has history for it earlier in the season when Herbert wasn't 100% and he left him in the game (more than once) when there was zero chance of them winning.

I'd be happy with that based on his Chelsea experience. Better than Bazos where the sky would be the limit.

In other news McVay is staying on. The Paul Ince of NFL coaches, has to have the dance every season

McVay has apparently told staff at the Rams that he'll be back next season.
