The NFL Thread

Didnt think of the NFC East but looking at it you’ve got 2 6-7 teams at the top being Americas team and the gash Eagles. I know I’m biased but Lamar has done wonders this season for the NFL

That's not what you said though. You said the AFC North is normally the best, which doesn't stand up any measure be it competitive or success

The lamar thing was an add on to the conversation. To defend my original point. The Steelers, Browns, Bengals and Ravens have shared some classic games to which decided who’s season ends and who goes to the play offs. The past 2 seasons and this one the Browns have been in a true thorn in the Ravens side. Last season it came down to literally an interception for the Ravens to take them to the play offs the season before the browns won by a field goal to take the Steelers to the play offs

Afc North Wrapped for the Ravens, across the divisions I’d say the Afc North normally is the best.

Think you have this very wrong James. I couldn't choose a dominant division for being the best as that is such a subjective term.

The AFC North certainly hasn't produced the most Super Bowl winners and statistically hadn't produced the closest finishes so I'm not sure what you're basing that on.

Purely looking at the NFC, the south is normally pretty competitive and can be looked at as the best division in recent history (ignoring this season). There are 2 MVP QBs and Brees and 3 (possibly 4) of the best receivers in the league.

Saints, Falcons and Panthers are always considered play off candidates pre season and it’s only the Bucs which are normally a basket case.

NFC North and West are good divisions. Especially North with Packers, Vikings, Bears and Lions.

NFC West is probably the strongest division currently. 49ers, Seahawks and Rams are all playoff contenders and you could argue 49ers and Seahawks are both realistic Superbowl contenders.

I'd take any of these 3 to beat all the NFC North teams. Packers would maybe beat the Rams.

Can’t argue with that currently but 49ers have largely been pants for ages apart from the couple of seasons around when they got to the super bowl and the Rams the same apart from the last couple of years. Seahawks have been decent for as long as I can remember though

I can remember the East being the powerhouse. All of the Giants, Cowboys, Redskins and Eagles have won superbowls. I used to expect the winner of the East to be in the big game most years.

Now it’s a tallest dwarf competition...

Last NFC Superbowl winner came from the East[emoji6]

Playoffs starting to take shape. In the AFC Ravens, Patriots and Chiefs look certain division winners, Bills confirmed a wildcard spot. They can still win the East but need to beat the Patriots and hope the Dolphins do too which isn't going to happen. Texans have the advantage in the South but Titans can take it still. Looks like Steelers or Titans/Texans for the other wildcard spot.

In the NFC Packers, Saints and Seahawks hold pole positions in their respective divisions, could be either Cowboys or Eagles in the East, probably the Cowboys after the way they dismantled the Rams yesterday. The Vikings and 49ers can still take their divisions but are certain wildcard if they don't.

Ravens top seed as well, makes a change from the cheatriots

Two things I learned about the Texans yesterday.

Their record this season:
LWW
LWW
LWW
LWW
LW
so they will beat the Bucs next week to win their division.

Laremy Tunsil of the Texans has twice as many offside penalties this season as any other player in the league. A Houston journalist has a brilliant name for his problem - Tunsilitis!

Ravens lock down number 1 seed and home advantage in the play offs

If I am Zimmer I am resting everyone for the last 2 games. The Vikings still have a slim chance of winning the division if they win both games, the problem is though even with 2 wins the Packers only need to beat the Lions in the last game. The Lions look hopeless at the moment and have confirmed Stafford wont play again this season. Can't see any way the Packers lose to a Blough led Lions if the division is on the line.

The Vikings will most likely need to play some very tough road games and they can't afford to be without any of the likes of Cook, Thielen or Diggs.

It's not sustainable, but the job Pederson and Wentz have done over the last 3 weeks without wide receivers has been remarkable really even if they have all been wins in a weak division. Aikman in comms said it was the most commendable thing he's seen in terms of offensive game plan management

Understand the sentiment, but number 5 seed has a big advantage over 6 this year at least in terms of the Wild Card game

Agreed but its still a strong possibility that the Vikings win both and still end up 6th seed (which would be mental at 12-4) and I'd rather be 6th seed with their best players than 5th without the likes of Cook and Thielen.
