The NFL Thread

I would say that's that. The Rams aren't scoring tonight.

They've had one shot at a TD which was prevented by a bit of superb individual defending. Not much else. Can't see them getting anything else from here.

Wow, Goff has had a shocker tonight. Those stats are poor.

I know I'm betraying myself not being over the NFC Championship, but I would have to imagine the Saints would have given New England a better match than this.

Poor decision from Goff. Should've thrown it over the corner even if he over throws his receiver.
Media here tomorrow will be 50% spaffing over Brady and 50% asking if Goff is a fraud.

Aye, posted before that play but it doesn't make any sense.

Another pointless analogy from another sport: if you've left yourself double 9 in darts with two in hand, aim high, not low, whatever you do.

Exactly right.

If Belichik was canny here (and not that sporting). He takes a knee on the next down, then kicks a field goal. Rams have less than a minute to get two scores then.

Looks like they're going for it. It's the percentage play, isn't it.

Well called that man. Johnny Romo

Just about snuck that in.

Game, set, match.

Game over.

Another masterclass from Belichick at taking away a teams way of playing and stopping their best players.

Not that it mattered but that was some Lonergan effort on the FG at the end.

As a tactical battle, loved it, wasn't a fantastic spectacle I suppose.

I will get more involved with the thread next season.

Well played Tony, congrats on the win.
My mistake was having Brady as my Captain as I'd originally selected Sony Michel but switched them round!

From a neutral point of view worst Superbowl game I've watched since I started watching the sport in terms of entertainment value. Got to admire what Belichick and Brady have achieved though. Incredible.

I thought it was tactically very good from the Pats but the Rams and Goff in particular just didn't adapt well enough which made it a poor spectacle for the neutral.

I'd much rather watch a high octane shoot out than a tactical game. Much as I'd rather watch a 4-3 football game than a 0-1 tactical masterclass.

I thought it was interesting enough at times. A bit like the Seahawks v Broncos one a few years back.

Agreed, I can appreciate good defensive play and there was some of that last night but as a neutral I'd rather see exciting plays on offense and scoring drives. Especially after watching the Vikings all season who have a good defence and not so good offence, I was looking forward to a nice change...
