The NFL Thread

Tried to watch the Steelers vs Ravens game, thought this might be the game to get me back into NFL with it being a rivalry etc. Wrong. Penalty, penalty, penalty, penalty, penalty. Fuck this sport.

Giants v Eagles looks a good game. Or Cowboys looking to steamroller the Browns.

Eagles now gone to 4-4. In every one of the lost games Wentz has has opportunities to get it done in the 4th quarter and not taken them. It's difficult when the wide receivers are poor and there isn't a reasonable running back other than an elderly Sproles, but he's starting to look like the rookie that he is.

Teams have film on him now. No surprise to see him slip a bit.

Their wide receiver corp is shite though, which also doesn't help.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Vikings dont win again this season.

Sounds over exaggerated but it's not, we simply don't put enough points up. 10 - 10 - 13 last 3 weeks.

The only way we could have fixed this season was to do something with a trade involving AP or someone as we have hardly any cap space but the deadline passed and nothing happened, going to be tough to sort this in the draft too as we have traded picks away for Bradford.

We'll win again but it will be down to the defence to put up points not the offence.

Chargers will be leaving San Diego. Will it be LA or LV though? Bit early for London I'd have thought, I can see the Jags going there in 3/4 years though.

Did Spurs end up signing that deal to play quite a lot of NFL games at the new ground when it's finished?

They did. At the moment the NFL award games to the UK, 3 this year with the cooperation of the home side, so normally it's the smaller franchises that are nominally at home for the London games. The general expectation is that the 3 will rise to 4/5 over the next couple of years and eventually a London team will arrive, Jacksonville being the most obvious candidate as they have played in London a few times, struggle to sell out their stadium and Khan also owns Fulham.

The debate over London tends to surround around whether a fanbase for that franchise would exist. Not so much over whether games would sell out, as they undoubtedly would in the first couple of seasons, more whether people would come to watch the London Jaguars and stop following their existing sides. A game against the Cowboys for example at the moment could see 50% Dallas, 40% neutral 10% Jaguars

There are people on here that are a lot more knowledgeable on NFL than me who may correct me on any of the above though!

In 2018 it looks like there'll be 5 games by my count. Wembley have a minimum of 2 per year until 2020, Twickenham has 1 per year until 2019 as well. Add that to Spurs' 2 and you have 5 in total all guaranteed under contract.

I doubt I'll go to that many. 3 is enough per year.

Unless a team moves here of course.

Would you personally (depending on cost obvz) buy a ST for a London team or is just a couple of games a year enough?

A ST would be too much for me. Too much travelling involved to do it every other week, even allowing for the fact there are only 8 home games per season (not counting any playoff games).

For me if a Franchise came over here I probably wouldn't support it. I can't imagine other fans being any different.

A bit like if Wolves dropped to non league and Sporting Khalsa came up the leagues I wouldn't start supporting them.

I'm in pretty much the same boat as above, already invested in following a team now so couldn't see myself changing and definitely wouldn't make a trip down to London every other week. I personally usually just pick one of the international games each year.

Eagles 5-4, 4-0 at the Linc which is where play off hopes will be won or lost as all 3 NFC East teams still to come there. WR so bad today that 5'6 veteran RB Darren Sproles was used as a receiving option in the 4th quarter

What was the general sentiment toward NFL Europe back when that was a thing?

Just when you think the Bears season can't get any worse a returning Kyle Long only lasts until the 2nd quarter before being carted off on a trolly with his leg in an aircast and then the ONE bright point of the season, Jordan Howard is injured with what looks like an Achilles Tendon injury. Can we just end the season now please?

Most frustrating game ever
