What the hell is Image of the Fendahl doing down at number 175???

pffffttt

The Sea Devils is 186th. Utterly ridiculous. It's iconic!!

Just tucking into Robot now. Ark in Space after tea and I hope to have got through Genesis of the Daleks by bed time. I had forgotten how good the Baker stuff actually was.

Yep - can't really remember it at all. Same goes for Horror of Fang Rock and Image of the Fendahl. It'll be great to see them again actually.

fang rock was another good one.

I'm half way through Genesis. I think I'll finish that and Revenge of the Cybermen tonight.

Blink,The Girl in the Fireplace,The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances,Midnight and Turn Left will probably always be my top 5.
The Doctor's Wife,Silence/Forest,Waters of Mars,Vincent and the Doctor and Impossible Planet/Satan Pit 6th-10th.

None of t he many stories I've seen from the classic series would be even close to top 20 for me.Can't help but think this has to be linked to not having grown up watching classic Who,also my clear 'RTD preference' must be linked to that's what I started with...

I mean no disrespect to the classic series or people preferring them.

I wouldn't have expected any different if you've only seen them after watching the new series TBH mate.

There are a few things in the classic series which are absolutely timeless though, such as some of the plots and science fiction in the better stories and - in particular - the better actors such as Tom Baker. Production values will always age a show like this though which I can understand.

Like nimrod, I'd prefer to watch the classic stories over the newer ones probably because of nostalgia.

Watching the first episode of Robot reminded me of how much Tom Baker over-acted the role, but in a good way. I had forgotten that the Brigadier essentially chose his get-up as well. Should have gone for the Pierrot clown costume TB came out with as the choice before the long scarf and velvet jacket - the series would have been completely different!

How Nazi were the group behind the robot btw? I had forgotten that completely.

Not as blatantly Nazi as Nyder in Genesis though, who is basically Goebbels to Davros's Hitler!

Finished season 12 last night and felt Revenge of the Cybermen was a bit of a let down. Overall though a superb season.

I'm now watching Terror of the Zygons. Pretty cool villains for the mid-70's.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too.Having said that I have enjoyed watching the classics especially from Tom Baker onwards,I just don't see me rewatching them...
I've probably watched Blink,The Girl in the Fireplace etc at least 50 times (no kidding or exaggerating) and I still get chills at certain parts of the stories.50 times!

I'm an addict. :(

My big 'pet peeve' with some of the classic stories.Every scientist, every politician, every militaryman are pigheaded, arrogant and refuse to listen to anything and 'let's kill them' seem to always be their first thought.
Also it seems that everyone knows that putting their hands on the Doctor's shoulders is effective,he falls over and faints...pretty much in every story. :)

Will there be an Easter Special this year?

Kate O'Mara - AKA The Rani - sadly passed away yesterday. Sad news.
