The Music Thread Strikes Back

Was musing getting tickets for them in Birmingham next year - haven't seen them live in ages.
I’m flirting with the idea too as it’s on a Friday night. Only £26 (ish) for a standing ticket!

To be fair I'd be going on the hope they'd still play a lot from Rise or Die Trying too, think I'll leave it until closer to the gig and see if I'm doing anything else.

The institute in brum is run by academy group and is really good. Probably the exception to the rule tho.
Think I've only been once to see The Vaccines when they first started out. Although when the Barfly was in the cellar it seemed I was there every other week in the '00s

Been getting into the new Underworld album released at the end of last month.
Absolutely loving it. So far, there aren't really any tracks i dislike. It's their most consistent album in ages.
Denver luna is the best track they have done in a significant time. and the colour red is also brilliant, and I totally love Gene Pool.
Black Poppies is a total earworm.
It's an album full of contrasts. Different styles, and it's totally brilliant.
Just need to take care not to over play it.

James have this morning announced a live release of their orchestral tour, and it is out next month! That's a must purchase, and excited about new tour dates for next summer too.
Mogwai have their new album out at the end of January, and so does Ludovico Einaudi. Am going to be poor!

MCR have released tour dates for 2025
My daughter is a huge fan
Tampa is with support from Evanescence
Toronto Canada with Pixies
She'll be buying me a ticket to chaperone her I'm sure...

Sylosis are an excellent death metal band. Airbourne are great AC/DC wannabes. Meshuggah are heavy as a concrete nosebleed.

Main stage - Green Day and Korn will be good. Pistols, hmmm. Not the same band, but love the songs. Bullet for my Valentine always put on a decent show. Within Temptation are okay and Steel Panther can be a bit of a giggle. Darkness are always superb live, as are Cradle of Filth (opportunity to wear the Jesus is a Cunt t-shirt if I still owned it!). Apocalyptica are well worth a watch.

There can’t be too many festivals that have had both McFly and Cradle of Filth on the same bill.

Agree with pretty much all of this!

I've been listening to Spiritbox today, not because of download, I accidentally found them yesterday. They're pretty good, a heavier version of Evanescence.

Jimmy Eat World are decent but, imo, a better album band. They're decent live, technically good but something has never quite clicked for me with them live (Clarity and Bleed American are fantastic albums though).

got presale tickets for James at cannock chase for next june. The forest live set up and venues are amazing, and I am well excited. Gone for the VIP tickets for better toilet facilities!

Watched Langers' favourites Kasabian and The Streets in Birmingham last Friday evening. Kasabian not the same band since Tom left but still plenty of heavyweight hits and they put on a good show. Still love The Streets and Mike Skinner cracks me up. Only mentioned it was a dream playing the "NEC" about 10 times during their set. That and trying to find out whether he could go to the casino in resorts world without wearing shoes...

Tried to get a bite to eat in Resorts World before the gig but was impossible. Every single place said "we have space at 8pm". We'll know to book in advance next time!

As for next year, secured tickets for my beloved Incubus in London. They're coming over to play Morning View in it's entirety, which will of course, be sensational.

Kasabian and The Streets on the same bill?

Fucking hell - I'd rather see James Corden in Conversation with Adrian Chiles

Was that actually separate gigs? Seems a very strange mix if not!

It's a British trait that support acts and most festivals are so genre specific. In Europe & the states support acts & festivals are much more eclectic.

I get that when young & developing an identity people may define themselves more narrowly, & latch on to one particular brand, but I don't understand how people cling to narrow styles of music forso long. There's so much good stuff in so many different areas.

Sure... To that I'd say surely we do it better !? Presuming people going to a Kano gig might want someone similar warming them up rather than Slipknot

Don't get why you mentioned the second poi.......Actually I'm still stuck in 2004 emo mode, I get you
