The Music Thread Strikes Back

Well they're up my street

Wouldn't have had the lead singer as Welsh. Wales love an emo band don't they
Yeah, he sounds American doesn’t he? Give “All Distortions Are Intentional” a listen from start to finish. Cracking album.

I've got seated tickets right into the stage section. Looking forward to it, what I'm not looking forward too is my bank card getting caned.

I saw photos of the drinks prices. Ouch.

Tbh I can take or leave drinking at a gig, certainly leave it at the prices The Halls wanted the other week at The Lathums gig.

Same as I don't eat or drink once I get into Molineux, why would I. I'm only there for two hours, I reckon I can manage until later.

Oh I am with you mate. I often drive, so would be soft drinks only too.
Given the challenges the hospitality industry has gone through, I appreciate they're probably re-couping losses, however everywhere ramping up prices is surely likely to result in more people attending whatever event they are going to, and not partaking in any additional expenditure. Longer term that'll harm venues I'd expect? Or people may go out less, owing to the cost/associated costs.

If the venue has a good bartender I'll splurge. If they're serving G&T's in a plastic cup, though, fuck that.

Of course, it's tough to know if the tender is any good or not if you don't take an expensive risk...

almost always plastic cups here mate.

i might play a new game at each gig I go to, what costs more, the combined fees for the ticket, or the cost of a pint?

£9.80 admin fees (AXS) for 2 x tickets for the Lathums. Tickets were on their app which I had to install myself so not sure where the admin actually is.

2 x drinks would have cost me more. Think a pint was £6.50 or so. Nah you're ok.

It's definitely the norm here but you occasionally get places that will serve glass. Maybe that's just Charlotte and our weird obsession with seating areas at a lot of the spots around here.

Imagine glass ain't what you'd want in a standing-room-only hall anyway.

Think the only gigs recently I have had a drink at the venue were outdoor ones.

The choice when we went to the gig at Stockport County was shite but it was fookin red hot!
Glorious Mancunian weather, I told you it was nice sometimes...

Think I paid about £11 for a two pinter at The Charlatans at the 02 in Brum 18 months or so ago, then that was me done for the evening*. Can deal with that.

*Just don't drop it

depeche mode tickets going on sale this weekend for anyone interested.
That would be me! Bit of a surprise to see them announce a European arena tour while they are still on the road in Europe doing a stadium tour.
Not often you see that. Makes me think that this will be the final time they hit the road.

I saw Depeche mode, Blur and Sting in June - all outdoors and roasting weather. The pints were €7!
But you end up paying it cos its hot and you want a drink. It wont be long until we see €10 pints at gigs. Thats the price point that would make me stop and say it's not worth it.

I occasionally like a burger outside Molineux. Bit basic but what you expect from a van for £3-4. Plenty of ketchup and mustard sorts it out!

I'll have a tea or coffee once inside as I get in there a good 15 mins before kickoff, so like to relax with a brew and read the reactions to the lineup on here.
