The Music Thread Strikes Back

Anyone who likes blues music - JJ Cale's posthumous album 'Stay Around' is fucking brilliant. A very underrated artist.

Been listening to Fontaines DC album a fair bit since it came out, it's got a certain charm about it.

The Chemical Brothers latest album is a decent one too, still getting over seeing them at the Alexander Palace which was immense.

Agree that the new chems album is good. Aside from we've got to try, I think all the tracks are strong. Really enjoying it. Am trying to consider what to listen to as well, as I want to avoid overdoing the album and tiring of it.

Einaudi's new stuff is streaming only til september, so listening to a lot of that at work.

The Underworld drift series is superb. Very varied and enjoyable. Lots of weird stuff being released from their vaults too, and it is due to continue for the entire year!

Indeed the albums pretty strong imo, liking this one at the moment

Caught a few bits they've done recently some of which is more than decent, will give them another listen as you've reminded me

yeah, is a good album. too real seemed to be their breakout song. got a lot of airplay end of last year. he's a got a good delivery

Cheers. Just seen that on FB and have tuned in. Shame I have to listen to breathy over-excitable Mary Anne Hobbs as well but you can't have everything.

She's in my good books after playing slint yesterday but, yes, she has an annoying delivery. like an ellie goulding vocal

I used to love Mary Anne Hobbs. Her Breezeblock show on radio one used to be essential listening for me, and probably shaped a lot of my current tastes. That was the 1990's though (used to have to go onto teletext to get the tracklist of the show!)

Sounds like she hasn't updated her lingo since then.

Yesterday underworld released a 26 minute version of pearls girl. it is fucking immense!

Been listening to loads of Vampire Weekend recently. A band that completely passed me by to begin with, but their first album randomly came on my Spotify the other day when I was in the car and it's really good. Been going through all their albums since then and their latest release is very catchy.

Enjoyed the new Biffy Clyro song released yesterday too. Fair play to them for sticking to the sound that made them famous for all these years. They've released some radio friendly stuff, but even this latest release yesterday had some trademark heavy moments and screams.

Langers will be pleased to hear that Serge from Kasabian is releasing some solo material. It's shit.

What else have I been listening to? Local Natives new album, Violet Street is excellent. I've also found myself listening to loads of early Bombay Bicycle Club.

Fucking brilliant album!

Probably their best for me. Still love the mechismo ep, which doesn't appear to be included in this release.

Today I have been listening to a lot of FSOL. I think these, and Bill Hicks will be the main listening for the next 3-4 weeks (busy period at work).

apparently it's world goth day today... in May! who the f**k thought that up

I know (and apologise for the fact that I do) go on about underworld a lot, but they've released the first part of drift ep 4 early, and it is huge!

Really loving this series.
