The Music Thread Strikes Back

Fred Deakin (formerly of lemonjelly fame) has been teasing about a new album for longer than I care to recall. However it now looks like april is a possible release date, via kickstarter most likely.

Just found a link on soundcloud of some excerpts, so gonna have a listen this afternoon.

He's talking about touring this next year!

In other news, listened to the first half of the new chemical brothers album on spotify this morning. First 4 tracks are corking!

6 music's live hour this morning featured the proclaimers. They were surprisingly good and I had no idea they had decent songs.

nice. turn on 6 music and good morning, captain is on.

i'm trying to find my way home...
i'm sorry.. and i miss you..

the national doing a live set at 12 on radio 6 from noon if SLA is on.

Cheers. Just seen that on FB and have tuned in. Shame I have to listen to breathy over-excitable Mary Anne Hobbs as well but you can't have everything.

She's in my good books after playing slint yesterday but, yes, she has an annoying delivery. like an ellie goulding vocal

Yeah, no issue with what she plays, but listening to her speak her weird hipster language makes me feel quite violent. A record is never released, it "drops". We're not going to listen to something, we're going to "check it".
And nothing is ever just good, or all right - everything's amazing. She's like a particularly annoying character from the Lego movie.

she speaks like she has a permanent cheesy grin plastered on her face

i avoid lauren laverne as well - her sycophantic interview style makes me want to vomit

the joy of being a miserable fucker is greatly under-estimated at times

Don't mind Lauren so much. I think she'd be fun to have a pint with. But yes, generally, grumpy old men DJs are the way to go. And Tom Ravenscroft who's young but nicely understated.

Anyway, this National new stuff is lovely.

i like ravenscroft's music choices though some of his back knowledge seems a little limited. i'd happily kick out lamacq for him tbh, though it might just be lamacq plays to his audience and ravenscroft is definitely more cutting edge, which i obviously prefer

Yeah, I think Lamacq's had his day. Time to ship him off to Absolute or somewhere else that still likes a regular bit of Stereophonics.

Agree with every single work of this.
