The Music Thread Strikes Back

no worries mate. Will check out your spotify link to save you the hassle.

I use spotify to check out what I want to buy.

Foals releasing two albums this year, the first coming on 8th March. First single off 'Exits' getting it's first play on Monday.

CAN'T WAIT.

Desert Island disco on 6music is brilliant this morning, included this which I bloody love:

Really liking Lauren on breakfast. Bonus is Shaun Keaveney is still on later too.

Went to see Martyn Joseph at Huntingdon Hall in Worcester last night. He's an annoyingly talented bastard - a superb guitarist, brilliant songwriter and he even played 2 songs on the piano which I've never seen him do before. I guess he's a bit like a mixture of Billy Bragg and Richard Thompson - lots of politics in his lyrics and makes guitar playing look easy.

Worth checking out on Spotify if you like that sort of thing - he's got a new album coming out very soon which I'm looking forward to hearing after a preview of some of the tracks last night.

spotify has put a richard ashcroft track in my recommendations. Oh how little you know me spotify!

That's nothing. Spotify recommended I listen to the new Papa Roach album this morning. I haven't listened to them for about 15 years!

Enjoying this from the Sex Education soundtrack.

Saw them at Truck Festival a couple of years ago. Tight little band. Had to change their name from 'Slutface' originally.

I fucking hate ashcroft with a passion!
ah well. bloody algorithms.

What's wrong with Richard Ashcroft, LJ?

I was annoyed to get a Bryan Ferry song on my Discover Weekly not so long ago. He reminds me of a bad pub singer.

and why on earth would they think you hadn't heard of him? what next, yellow submarine

i just looked at that feature - my contains unknown tracks like debaser by the pixies, the rat by the walkmen, just like honey - jamc
'weekly mixtape of fresh music' with virtually nothing i haven't heard and some of it centuries old
cunts

I absolutely cannot stand the jumped up fucker. There is admittedly a certain level of irrationality about it, but I've never really got into the verve (a couple of ok tunes, little else). All his solo stuff is shite.

His vocals on The Test with the chemical brothers really works well, but I put that down to their production.

I just can't stand the egotistical wanker.

I love The Rat! Great track.

yep. though the walkmen are a great band regardless of that track, which appears to be the only one of theirs "the radio" is allowed to play
they've got a nerve to be playing that number
the walkmen once made an appearance on american teen series The OC

I think the Discover things are supposed to be a mix of things from your collections and things the algorithm thinks you might like based on your other listens.
You sound like drunk tramps shouting at the traffic. :argh:

How odd. Some of his solo stuff is really good (Science of Silence is awesome and I love a recent one - Money Money), and I like The Verve. Each to their own I guess but I think he's very decent songwriter.

suits me :)
based on what i see any algorithm must be heavily based on 'number of plays' - hence debaser and not, say, Ed is dead.

Why anyone would complain about being given the opportunity to listen to Debaser (again) is beyond me.

:icon_biggrin:

true, but that wasn't the point

i still think a good idea by sugar out debasers debaser

one blog asked for best first album tracks and debaser was inevitably suggested, but the critic agreed with me that bone machine is the more definitive pixies track #surferrosa
