The Music Thread Strikes Back

I listened to a PJ Harvey album for the first time last week. How have I got to the age of 38 having never listened to any of her albums before???

I think I am becoming obsessed. The woman is a genius.

Better late that never! What album?

Well I started with Rid of Me after I'd read that Steve Albini produced it. I heard the first few tracks thought 'fuck me, this is rather good' and then thought I should probably start at the beginning and listened to Dry. I spent last week listening to them both and have now moved on to To Bring You My Love.

Dry is probably my favourite so far.

I don't know why I had never listened to her before. She was one of those artists where you know you should listen to them but I had never actually got around to it.

Do you mean Dry? Or is there an album I haven't found?
I love those early records. So powerful. The last album - Hope Six - is probably the weakest, but I don't think there are any bad albums.

I did mean Dry, I just came to edit it and you beat me to it! I knew it began with a D...

Just got in from Slayer at the NIA on the FINAL TOUR.

What a gig. Absolutely outstanding.

Tickets secured for Alice in Chains and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club at the NIA. Cannot wait.

(Though sexuality is a broad church, and I haven't always been on one side of the aisles, and all that)

Shit, have i been barking up the wrong tree :) Sorry mate, but you could turn a blokes head !

i don't mind hope. uh huh her is the one i've probably listened to least.

Went to see the MC5 last night, or MC50 as they're calling themselves as they're celebrating the 50th anniversary of Kick Out The Jams. And it's really only Wayne Kramer as the rest of them are either dead or retired. Was an absolutely awesome night - I never thought I'd get to hear those songs played live. And the band was pretty good - Kim Thayil from Soundgarden on guitar, Brendan Canty from Fugazi on drums and Billy Gould from Faith No More on bass.

Amusingly, they were supported by Michael Munroe, ex of Hanoi Rocks. Imagine Pat Butcher had spent a solid year in the gym and then got herself tarted up for her big appearance in Readers' Wives. Truly frightening to look at.

Nice line-up - I would have enjoyed that.

Using this thread to moan about secondary ticketing markets AGAIN. Standing tickets for Metallica in London next year are already sitting at £500 each. Totally ridiculous.

The key to enjoying the chemical brothers is probably in the name.
have announced new album for early next year, and a tour for next november. tickets on sale next week.
think i'll ask my brother for a ticket for a christmas pressie. haven't seen them live for many years.

SPINAL TAP ARE REFORMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOO FUCKING THERE. Play Wembley with the Smallest Stonehenge ever.

They seem a bit old now though. Especially Guest. Greyer than Gandalf!

Remember when she didn't turn up at Paloma's back in the day.......lots of angry folks that night.
