The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2024/25

Martin now sacked by Saints. Two English managers gone in a day. Going to be some frothing on the gammonweb.

Pretty sure Russell Martin ain't getting any sympathy.

My mistake. I don't remember him playing for Scotland at all. Worse considering my own Scottish fandom/heritage!

It was more aimed at the indignation of people about British managers not getting a chance that I saw all over yesterday. Including from some of the comments on The Athletic which I usually consider a slightly more informed crowd.

It'll be interesting to see who they get, as it's fair to assume with a small level of investment we could have too. Worse league position, worse squad, arguably nicer area of the country but not enough to make a difference I don't think.

Rohl has done a good job at Wed, but like the Championship managers journos made up we were interested in yesterday it would be an appointment for next season. My worry if that was us would be a crap half season first knocks a lot of the shiny gloss off that.

The Wednesday fans I know all love him. Had a pretty difficult start too this season and seems to have weathered that really well. Hadn't realised they had gotten as high as they have.

Only on a 6 month contract too.
18 month with a break clause after 6.

Rohl was first choice but didn't want to pay £5m to get him.
Corberan next but a no to the £2.5m fee

All very Shi is that

This guy was their 2nd choice before they employed Nathan Jones 2 years ago.
