The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2023/24

That's one hell of a statement by a Football Association .

I think all the traditional powers in that region are probably pretty pissed that they've let Qatar win the Cup again, especially after how embarrassing they (Qatar) were at the World Cup.

Klinsmann is a good punching bag.

Basically vibed his way through the 2006 World Cup with home advantage and a good squad of players that had nothing do with him. Then either been awful or semi-retired for most of the next 18 years.

South Korea haven't won the Asian Cup since 1960, don't think it's entitlement as such. They just played terrible football, were very lucky to get as far as they did and he's never taken the job seriously. You can't manage a national team when you live on another continent FFS.

Oh, I don't at all mean he doesn't deserve it. I lived through him, I know how he is, even when he does live on the same continent. 😂

West Ham getting their version of 'we're 8th' that we had under Lage if they dare complain about the manager.

As with us back then:

1) The league position is scant consolation if you're paying lots of money to watch awful football and results are following the same awful pattern

2) Clearly that position won't last if the current trajectory carries on

3) If the manager keeps making the same errors with the same consequences and never learns then what are you supposed to do, leave him to it?

Although of course Moyes is nothing like the wanker that Lage is and also has a CV that fills more than half a page.

Stylistically there are obviously differences but Lopetegui is only three years younger than Moyes.

The Athletic did a piece last week speculating on a possible replacement and they came up with Potter, Carrick and Sebastian Hoeneß. Not a single mention of Sulky from Tettenhall.

I could see Stropetegui getting the fans behind him at Wham in the same way Benitez did at Newcastle where they cleverly play off the standing of Ashley/Sullivan especially with Ballague available to manage the narrative.

West Hams squad is as mid table as you can get, only really Bowen and Paqueta are decent players. Doubt they'll be able to attract/afford better than that. Don't see they're any more attractive than Wolves tbh.

He could have done that at Wolves if he'd have had the balls for it.

I'm not sure, there's still too many sit back and swallow whatever Shi tells us as we see with the FFP and Season Ticket comms. I feel there's a fair bit more entitlement amongst the rank and file of Newcastle and West Ham support.

They spend money, we don't. There's the difference.

I'd add Kudus to your list

Lopetegui didn't want to really step it up at Wolves, that's a false narrative, he wanted to do something
Sorry I'm being thick but I don't understand this. I thought he wanted money to take us to the next level not just tread water.

That was Plan A, he was told that didn't exist any more before the end of the season and we were on Plan B which was mid priced signings. After the first strop via Balague he decided to stay. It's only when he was told that was off the table that he did the second strop and left. He'd have stayed with a modest Sunmer budget.

Yep I get that and I don't blame him blowing us out, he'd have no trust in them (I don't either).
Still don't think West Ham are a great 'project' for him. I suppose they're a bit more 'glamourous' than us and will undoubtedly spend a bit more money but not convinced they can be what he thinks he deserves.
