The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2023/24

They have a fairly odd history when you look at it. 20 titles but Busby and Ferguson won 18 of them. The other 2 from some guy well over 100 years ago.

Somehow after the League Cup win a narrative set in that Erik ten Hag was doing really well and Man United were on their way back. Before they lost 7-0 to Liverpool there were headlines saying they had surpassed Liverpool or were progressing miles ahead, it's completely delusional.

Once those narratives set in, it takes time for them to change in the media even if all evidence points to the contrary. He's had a pretty easy ride, even last season they lost seven nil to their main rivals and nobody seemed to bat an eye, plus they were dumped out the Europa League by a pretty poor Sevilla side who looked miles better than them.

Utd's problem has been trying to buy immediate success by buying 'star' players, and not building a team. If they'd stuck with Moyes and allowed him to build something with some guts and work ethic they might have been challenging for trophies.
I don't think ETH is a bad manager, he's just inherited a basket case of a club.
Besides which everyone else has moved on and progressed that includes us, Villa, Bournemouth, West Ham et al.

Moyes is a just above average PL manager, he got the job based on Fergie's coronation. He's never been at that level. I mean he signed Fellaini

Fellaini survived a few more managers as did Moyes’ other signing Mata. Given the team Fergie left was full of geriatrics allowing the new manager two signings was ridiculous. I agree Moyes isn’t that level but he was never given a chance.

I think it was obvious that he was out his depth at Man Utd, the squad he was left was ageing but it wasn’t a 7th place squad.

Yeah they've just reverted back to the Man U of the 80s that I grew up with. Never going to get relegated, never going to win the league but might be an outside bet for a cup. Fergie era was an anomaly.

Poch and ten Hag doing their best to be next to go. Guess Ratcliffe will call the shots now. Will certainly be cheering Villa on when they play Utd. If he survives that and Forest Spurs might get the job done.

Neil Wood sacked by Salford. G-Nev loves a mid-season sacking (then never ever says the Man Utd manager should go when he's asked on Sky).

Unless something has changed Neville stopped making the decisions at Salford 18 months ago. Butt, Scholes and Giggs now I believe

Butt in charge of firing and hiring.

G-Nev would have binned Woods months ago

Sounds like Roy is close to the sack at Palace.

A job for Cooper if he wants it.

Sacked 3 times in less than 2 years, mad skillz from the little Fat Controller cunt.

JobSeekers Allowance claimant in waiting.
