The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2018/19

Best example of Rowett was last year's play off semi first leg. Went 1-0 against Fulham and spent the second half sitting on that. Given Fulham's home form last year that was stupid, cowardly and he got what he deserved.

Derby were also the only team that came to Molineux last year who'd accepted their defeat before kick off.

Anyone who pays more attention to Stoke and/or Rowett with any insight on where its gone wrong for him since his Birmingham days?

Clayheads aren't happy with his football, the desire of the players (which they blame Rowett for) and his squad strengthening. Shawcross and Williams are done as players and he insists on playing them and getting them to hoof the ball up to whatever forward is playing.

They've also got some horrible characters in the squad that he just can't manage. Stoke need gutting and getting some of that tripe off the wage bill. They need a good manager now and getting rid of the crap in their squad. As far as I know they have oodles of cash so it's not a money issue.

The Coates family has oodles of cash. I am less than convinced that they are going to pour it into Stoke

The fans can't have any complaints about money, they had to pay to get Rowett, Afobe was £12m, Ince, McClean, Woods and Clucas certainly didn't come cheaply, Shaqiri was the only major sale (due to a release clause) I think, Allen and Butland in particular will be on crazy money for Championship level.

I backed them to walk away with the league as on paper their squad is far better than anyone else's but Rowett conclusively failed to have any identity, they looked awful right from day one.

hey looked awful right from day one.

The Leeds game was a shocker for them and Rowett clearly learned fuck all from it. Felt for Afobe a bit in that game. £12m...your focal point and play in a way that doesn't suit him at all.

Only 8 points away from the playoffs with 20 games. With that squad, I reckon even Moyes could get them in with a shout of promotion via the play offs.

could do without the distraction of a cup run

That game in April is when I lost all time for him. They were 5th FFS! We were/are streets ahead but as you say beaten before the first whistle.

I think he's about finished at this level now.

He will get jobs at teams in the Championship just won't be ones who have money and demand promotion. Clubs with set ups similar to how he worked at Blues and hope he can get a squad over achieving

Nathan Jones being linked with the Stoke job tonight

Would actually have been ideal for Wednesday with their current budget but they have appointed our favourite author (after he has finished watching the cricket)

Sky say Jokanovic has turned down the chance to interview for the Stoke job

Jokanovic is the first to tell Stoke to get fucked about an interview.

Maybe the Moyes appointment isn't quite such a certainty as thought.

4/6 with Coral and Ladbrokes still.

Nathan Jones? He's been gone too long...
