He was the only one this year who managed to get their defense looking respectable tbf.
Fair.Wouldn't be so sure about that. Wolves and Cardiff should have scored at least 8 between them. Some top goalkeeping, poor finishing and in Cardiff's case woeful finishing. Teams still got a crap load of chances across the 4 games where they conceded 1.
Hughton gone.
I'm sure Paul Ince is being rung up by Talksport as we speak.Been awful since Christmas, and there football is terrible too. Will still be people moaning about the decision though
Ultimately, he kept Brighton up (yes, I agree the football on offer was shite, but he had a job to do & did it) and he got them to an FA Cup semi final. If getting Wolves to an FA Cup semi final is a massive achievement for Nuno, it would be incredibly harsh of anyone to suggest it's less of an achievement (if not more, looking at the squads) by Hughton to achieve that with Brighton.
In the end, he will get another PL job soon enough - and Brighton have let him see the season out & now have all summer to plan for next season with a new manager in charge, so it works for everyone.
Their players are shit though, as are their signings. Not saying he's without blame, but keeping that pile of poop in the premier league twice is an accomplishment.
I was very impressed by Duffy against us tbf. The players they sign don't seem to make any sense - Houghton can play football, as he showed in the champ, but it seems the players signed don't fit in to their style of play. There are some good players in that squad IMO that would do better under a more progressive coach. That said, someone like Duffy at the back for them has thrived in the way they play
