The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2015/16

Villa's biggest problem was using a transfer committee to sign players the manager/coach neither wanted or had sign off on. It's not a structure that has ever worked particularly well in this country, Newcastle are another example. On paper both clubs spent a reasonable amount in the Summer but not on the players the coach wanted. It ends in them trying to prove a point like Sherwood picking Hutton and Richardson at full back, McClaren not playing Mitrovic etc. Doesn't help that as managers both are shit as well.

I have wondered at various points this season whether KJ has been doing the same thing with Wallace and Byrne.

Pochettino is special. Unbelievable how he's brought on those four Spurs lads that played tonight.

I am in shock at how much he has improved Rose. He was excellent throughout tonight.

I think that's the big one for me as Kane, Alli and Dier all have a natural football brain but Rose has never really looked like he could compete at this level until this season. Looks like he understand the position much better now.

Yup - he was an absolute bombscare defensively beforehand. He's never going to hit Cashley standards in his defensive game but he's a genuinely good player nowadays. His decision making going forward has improved dramatically too.

Incredible that Espanyol weren't too sorry to see the back of him!

I believe they have spent over a week discussing his pay off. Who next for Villa. Pearson seems the obvious candidate.

They won't appoint until the summer.

Eric Black can bumble through to the inevitable relegation

Gary Neville has been sacked at Valencia after 4 months in charge.

Will we see him managing in the Premier League next season? Or will he go back to punditry? (which he's very good at).

Failed experiment/gamble? Or are there mitigating circumstances at Valencia?

Valencia's squad is an absolute mess.

I think it's a bit of both. He obviously knows the game and talks a lot of sense but that's different from being a good manager. Valencia are a mess too but they were doing much better before he took over. Pretty sure he said he wasn't sure whether he wanted to manage anyway but had to take the chance so fair play but hope he comes back to punditry now.

I think Gary Neville will return to management in England. Maybe at Villa Park.

Nah, Villa is a job for the truly desperate. Who wants to take over a club where the owner wants out and decided to allow no signings despite being rooted to the foot of the table in January, where there is a culture of defeat and the squad is littered with awful players who no-one else will buy? It's a hiding to nothing.
