Villas Boas is unemployed isn't he? He could be on for the hatrick of Premier League failures.

Leaving Zenit at the end of the Russian season (though I think it runs parallel to all the other European seasons now, so months yet to go). They actually look really good in the CL this year for some reason, well off the pace domestically though.

There's always talk of Pep going to City. I'm not convinced Pellegrini signing a new deal means anything.

FSG have a lot to answer for, why let Rodgers finish the season like that - top four challenge petering away to nothing, limp exit at Wembley to Villa, 1-6 at Stoke - then give him another truckload of money to spend in the summer, then sack him two months into the season? Obviously I think he was massively, massively out of his depth and had to go but there's no real strategy there.

I wonder if Liverpool were worried Chelsea would sack Morinho and go for Klopp before them? Otherwise the timing is really odd.

I don't think Jose is under any great pressure. He should be of course.

Liverpool certainly have lacked Character for the past 18 months.

Talksport have been talking as if Ancelotti is going to Liverpool but this surprises me as Ancelotti is high above their level and would be much better holding out for the City or Chelsea jobs should they come available or even United

if I was Klopp I would wait until the summer unless he wants a real challenge at Liverpool. A lot of not all Liverpool fans forget they aren't dining at the top table in European football anymore.

Carlo's record of hardly ever winning the league would fit in well at Anfield...

I must be one of the few people that thinks Ancellotti's not as good as people think he is.

Let's not forget how bad Klopp's last season at Dortmund actually was...

The first half of the season was horrific. They finished off with a record of W9 D3 L3, made the cup final and qualified for Europe. So not a disaster.

Don't think him and Liverpool would work, Anchelotti is decent at managing big clubs with big budgets and world class players to make your job easier. He won't have that at Liverpool and would need to get something extra out of average to half decent squad.

I cannot believe that Dean Saunders has not been mentioned for the Liverpool job...

Jamie Carragher was spot on in stating that Liverpool are becoming the new Spurs. Think there big but the big clubs really don't worry about what there doing and who there signing.

They shouldn't get such delusions of grandeur seeing as Spurs have finished above Liverpool in five of the last six seasons.

Didnt expect rodgers to get the boot in this moment..anyway, he has had it coming long time..

Liverpool are still one of the giants of world football. They may not have won the league for a generation, but their worldwide fanbase is amazing. Top managers will always be interested in managing a club of Liverpools stature.

I'm not so sure that holds up when their last three appointments were Hodgson (previous four jobs were the UAE, Viking Stavanger, Finland and Fulham, then went to West Brom afterwards), Dalglish (throwback who hadn't managed anyone in over a decade) and Rodgers (formerly of Watford, Reading and Swansea, who had the sum total of one playoff win on his CV).

Financially they are no longer at the races. Their squad is seventh place material at absolute best.
