The Live Match Discussion Thread: 2019/2020

Oh my just seen Bournemouth disallowed first goal, wow whoever called that needs suspending. Looking at it Liverpool goal at Anfield against us was more of a handball.
Today has to be the worse day in VAR this season some absolute incompetence from Mr Coote especially.

Saka is doing well but I would not be picking him right now.

Bertrand is still a steady enough option.

Rose is awful these days.

Yep. Agree with all of that.
Shaw has actually been playing well lately and was very good against us I thought.

Brandon Williams impressed me against us this season. Dealt with Adama as well as anyone has managed.

I'm having a delightful case of Schadenfreude reading the Leicester fans whining about VAR going against them.

They can only really complain about the KdB handball.

Personally I would be giving a pen against Ederson there as there's no way a centre half ever gets away with going in like that. But keepers have always got away with it and that isn't changing any time soon.

Definite pen against Praet and Jesus was clearly onside.

Ederson wins the ball, and he’s allowed to use his hands. No different to Walker winning the ball and wiping out Chilwell with a lot of force in the second half. It’s football, Collisions happen, even though we are trying our best to ban any kind of contact.

I think it's generous to say he wins the ball! Iheanacho totally misses it when he shouldn't and then Ederson comes through. And if a centre half follows through with that force, heading it away or not, he'll more than likely get a foul given against him. Keepers seem to be able to do whatever they want.

He punches the ball into him! This situation never happens in open play where two players are challenging an aerial ball running towards each other. Closest thing is a clash of heads and the guy who wins the ball never tends to give a foul away.

Aye but if Iheanacho heads it (which he should, in fact I don't know how he hasn't) then what happens next? Probably a smack in the mouth.

I don't care that much as every keeper gets away with it so at least the consistency is there. They just get away with far too much. Going off like car alarms if you so much as sneeze near them but apparently you're fair game if you're anywhere near their path. Centre halves don't get to jump with knees leading and not giving a crap who or what they hit. It's a long standing animosity I have with them.

I think if Iheanacho wins the ball then a pen gets given.

Hahaha. Wrighty on MotD a bit confused.. ",I like Ben Chilcott, but..". Enquiry in to that then.

Not that I care about Bournemouth but their first disallowed goal really is nonsense. No way that's handball, clearly off the shoulder.

How are Steve Cook and Simon Francis still getting games, particularly the latter. Billing is atrocious as well

Sean Dyche is an arsehole doesn’t realise a shoulder is not hand ball. If those had gone against him he’d be seething.

Not sure what they are watching in MOTD. Second one clearly comes off his upper arm, hits the badge. First one is a joke though

Dyche is such a massive, massive liar :icon_lol:

A complete baby whenever anything goes against his team (just watch him on the touchline next season at Molineux as sadly we'll have to play them again) but something clearly wrong goes in his favour and he's fine with it.

Ok Sean, I hope we have four instances of Burnley scoring against us in a few weeks, they all come off Ashley Barnes' shoulder, they all get disallowed and we'll win 1-0. Presumably you'll give that the thumbs up.

Disallowing the Bournemouth goal is ludicrous Who was the var ref in that game?

Clearly? Really one thing I’ve got going for me is my vision and I couldn’t say exactly whether the ball hits the upper arm or shoulder. Tell us in relation to the size of the ball where the shoulder and arm start and end?

I think it looks like a pen as he does stick his arm out (he's a dreadful defender and pulls this kind of crap all the time). Possibly a bit harsh but I can see why it was given, in fact you might have expected it to be given in real time because he has given the ref a decision to make.

Anyway I think they still owe the world about another 50 iffy penalties before they're back in balance over the last five years or so, balls to Bournemouth. Horrible team and if they're on the wrong side of it for now then it's about time. Howe is getting found out for exactly what he is.
