The Live Match Discussion Thread: 2019/2020

Lopes gets a decent hand to it and might do better but some strike from Ronaldo and it's very much game on. Juve not looked great but have to be favourites to get another now.

Juve penalty is the ref probably trying to even it out after giving Lyon a dodgy decision.

That’s another Varane howler should be enough for city now

City surely through after that mistake from Varane. Could be a fantastic end to the Juve game, they need a goal to go through and Dybala has just come on.

Haha, were just about to write if i had to choose one cb it would be Raphael Varane ..then he makes another mistake..well, i will stand by that..not gonna happen of course

Juve our to be fair Lyon managed the final half hour really well.

Lyon through, Juve just not good enough and backs up the fact that Serie A really is poor. No idea how Lyon finished 7th in Ligue 1 though, definitely much better than that.

As for Real absolute suicide football especially against City who like a high press. City in complete control of that game tonight.
Juve very one dimensional chasing the 3rd that’s the first time I’ve watched this version of Lyon and was impressed play some good football and have some flair players to.

Reims and Rennes were surprisingly strong and Lyon also dropped a couple of complete clangers they had no business losing.

They're the AS Roma of that country.

Lionel Messi is an outrageous footballer. No idea how he's scored there, Barca 2 up and Napoli definitely regretting Mertens miss early on.

Another brilliant finish by Messi makes it 3 only to be ruled out for handball.

Not sure it actually hit his hand, there was nothing conclusive in the replays for me.

Yep I think it's incredibly harsh, they must be using ultra edge in the stadium to detect a handball there.

Stonewall penalty given to Barca which Suarez scores to all but send them through. No idea how it took 5 minutes and sending the ref over to the monitor to figure out it was a penalty but at least they got the right decision in the end.

Chelsea stuffed

Meh. They are not as good as they think they are.

God I hope we win the EL and send them into CL qualifying.

Yeah, we’d just have two teams in Pot 1

In that unlikely scenario (let’s be honest, it is) then let’s play silly buggers and assume City won the Champions League.

Pot one would be:

Man City (champions league defending champions)
Wolves (Europa league champions)
Real Madrid (champions of number one ranked country)
Liverpool (champions of number two ranked country)
Bayern (champions of number three ranked country)
Juventus (champions of number four ranked country)
PSG (champions of number five ranked country)
And then either the champions of the sixth ranked country or Barcelona, depending on how UEFA worked it out.

Pot two would have Manchester United in it among others like Inter. Really strong chance of some groups of death

Absolutely no idea how Copenhagen haven't scored against United, causing them all sort of problems. In the other game Inter 1 up out of nowhere on the counter.

Behrami jumping over bailly’s outstretched leg - bet you anything you like Fernandes would have gone over in the same position (or pretty much any other position!)
