Reina still has his reflexes on the shots..great goalkeeping

engels with another mistake and Son scores..damn, were hoping for a draw or Villa win

Doesn't help us at all in the table, but can at least laugh at Villa.

We aren't making 4th or 5th anyway.

Villa can't complain, could have conceded 10. Set up incredibly badly.

Massive missed opportunity if we miss out on the top 5-6 this season. Every time I watch someone like Spurs, Everton or Man Utd they look so, so average. If we’d have turned just 2 of our 12 draws in to wins, we would have been pushing Chelsea for 4th.

Massive shame.

I think we are good enough to finish 5th - but the Europa League may get in the way of that.

Not really, we just aren't good enough to put together the kinds of runs you need. We're above Everton and United btw.

Even if Spurs dropping points would have benefited us that last minute fuck up by Engels was delicious

Aim to finish ahead of Sheffield Utd and Everton. Will probably see us finish 6th or 7th which will be another very successful season. Then can really try and kick on next year. Arsenal aren’t getting better anytime soon, Leicester won’t be as good next year and Utd depends on the manager.

Arsenal here for the taking if Newcastle want it enough.

Arsenal have won six league games all season (only Watford and Norwich have won fewer) and this display shows why.

Just a mid-table team right now.

The point is, we are good enough. Therefore, it’s a missed opportunity.

6th-7th and a Europa League semi/final is a fantastic season for us, that said.

By what metric are we good enough though :icon_lol: As we don't win enough games to properly get up that end of the table, at least for a while we were continually giving away daft goals and we've forgotten how to score recently.

The top three aren't in the conversation as we're too far behind, we're definitely not as good as Chelsea, Sheff Utd have a significantly better defensive record than us and for all their faults Spurs are much better at nicking results than us (plus even without Kane, Son is a far better forward than anything we've got, and that's not to denigrate any of our options in the front three).

Plus especially if we beat Espanyol - and having watched them today, we should - I expect the Europa League to take priority.

Good header by Auba, one of the few bits of quality all game.

Great megs by Saka.

It'll be interesting to see where he plays long-term, not sure he's a LB but definitely something to work with.

Saka has impressed whenever I've seen him, probably a bit of a stop gap at left back as Tierney's perma-crocked and Kolasinac is dreadful.

Not sure how Clark didn't pull one back for Newcastle a few minutes back.

Only caught the last half hour but arsenal look excellent.
