That makes more sense! Team I saw on twitter had him left of front 3.

Yeah, still probably not a good plan anyway. Back five made sense but him v Salah doesn’t seem so great

Great finish. Shame they have to nick our song to celebrate it.

Awful decision. Not anywhere near a foul.

I have never wanted an absolute slaughter of Manchester United by Liverpool more. I want ten.

I suspect had it been 0-0 or Liverpool losing, it would have stood. With Liverpool in front already, much easier to cop out and disallow it.

Whether it's a foul or not (I say no), United had a simple chance to clear it and messed it up. Shouldn't be chalking the goal off.

That challenge against the keeper is always a foul now, it aint 1982 anymore.

Personally thought it was a clear foul. Once Van Dijk makes no contact with the ball and only De Gea's arm which definitely stopped him catching the ball then it has to be a foul. VAR is a problem because the game is being refereed by terrible referees and those are also in charge of the VAR.

Pretty sure Pawson put his whistle to his lips to blow too until the ball dropped to a United player , don't think he expected them to give it straight back to Liverpool and a goal come from it.

Absolutely stupid. It was a game that neither of us really wanted to win because of fixture congestion so now he has ruined his best attacking threat for realistically the season to try and win.

Really odd, and actually really, really poor management.

Crazy, but helps us out when we play them in a couple of weeks.

He's been absolutely fantastic this season too. A real shame. Hopefully he's OK for the summer.

Exactly. It was a clear foul because he jumped at the player (de Gea) rather than jump up straight to challenge for the ball.

I had to laugh at two of the dirtiest players to have played the game ( Kean and Souness ) arguing vociferously in the Sky studio, that it was not a foul and asking what can Van Dyke do to challenge more fairly.

Obviously neither of them know the Law on challenging for a ball in the air.

If that were two players challenging for a header not in a million years is it given as a foul.

Rightly so because both players are going for a header. In this case De Gea has his arms outstretched so any contact makes it less likely for him to catch the ball especially when it's Van Dijk going in to him just under his left arm pit. It has to be a foul.

Not familiar with the rules, but is that actually a thing?

Not sure what's in the rules regarding contact on a goalkeeper but that's been a foul for as long as i can remember and it's only common sense anyway. Contact initiated by the attacker should be a foul, if they were both attacking the ball or Van Dijk actually heads the ball then i would say that is different.

One thing to take from this match is that Liverpool are definitely a bit vulnerable at the moment. They're nowhere near the level they were 3 or 4 months back, definitely confident we can get something on Thursday.

Salah makes it two on the break.
