The January 2025 Transfer Thread

CM is definitely a target unless Bellegarde has just saved us the effort of trying.
As much as I want Jean to succeed I think it would be appropriately stupid of the club to assume yesterday means he’s suddenly been “fixed”.

Yeah the worry is that having kept a clean sheet yesterday, on top of Bellegarde’s performance in midfield, the club now think we will survive relegation comfortably and no longer need a new centre half or midfielder to compete

The problem we have is that the profile of player that would welcome a move to a club in our situation means they’re probably at a smaller club and likely to be one of the better players at that club. Consequently the selling club will want to replace said player and will have very little time to do so. It’s like us selling Cunha, we’d have been reluctant do so at the beginning of the window but are now in the position where we’d have to refuse a really big offer as it would leave us up shit creek without a paddle.

When it’s so clear that we need a couple of players in to give us a fighting chance of survival it is beyond incompetent to leave it so late.

Whether we will survive or not, the club need to be thinking long term which they seem to keep forgetting.

Our hit rate on successful transfers of late has been pretty shit. We are going to sell at least one of our good players, which means we will have to improve in 3 or 4 areas just to stand still.

If we sign a couple now and they end up being duds, at least you give yourself the chance to have another bite of the cherry in the summer.

"We are interested in your player"
"Don't believe you"

Is that how you reject interest in a player?
Seems familiar, I’ve gone through the same rejection plenty of times with women

Might be worth remembering that JB was bought as a central midfielder but yet has hardly ever played there. In fact, yesterday might well have been the first time he actually started there?

You wouldn’t judge Archie Gray as a PL centre back, for example.

Not defending him, I’d agree that he’s been largely poor - but let’s give it some context.

Believe me, I remember! I've been on the JJ Train basically since day one; I still believe there's a very good player in there, though in what environment he'd best thrive remains to be seen. May yet not be in England, even at what I believe is his "proper" position.

Only one piece of the puzzle, of course, but just look at the difference here:

Doesn't look like a complex equation to figure out where he's more comfortable.

Played CM vs Liverpool on debut (was very good albeit missed a good chance)

Sent off at Luton the week after

Never played there again until yesterday

Thx for that. If what I am seeing is right then what the hell did GON's ipad work out that put him on the wing?

I'm not convinced that there was ever anything other than Seinfeld re-runs on that thing.
I can go with that but will stick with my view that it was showing re-runs of The Muppet Show.
Edit. Or, was just a mirror.

I didn't say he hadn't?

I said he must have done because he looked shite before. Which also applies to Danso.
What I liked about Tanganga was how honest he was as a bloke. Said several times how hostile the crowd were at Molineux and how Adama owned him at White Hart Lane in the 3-2 win.

Aside from that he's another big bastard, which we need our biggest weakness has been how easily we've been bullied.

Was Tanganga the one who just blatantly fouled Zaha by pushing him over?

I mean Kevin Danso isn't so uniquely talented that it's him or nothing when it comes to improving the back line. Fair enough things haven't gone our way but shit happens, fucking deal with it. We spend millions of pounds a year on scouting, if we can't find a fucking defender that fancies us and is also marginally better than either Doc or Santi then in you ducking come. Useless fucking cunts
