The January 2025 Transfer Thread

Player decides to stay put as his current club is a better financial bet and provides a more stable forward playing strategy. Well… fair enough.

Club is Betis.

Shiiiiiiiit…

As said earlier, haven’t seen him for Betis, but based on how he has looked for the US, spending £25m on Cardoso would be absolutely stupid IMO.

Nobody would have wanted us spending that amount on Tommy Doyle and I’ve seen nothing of Cardoso to suggest he’s any better.

It’s frustrating, on the one hand I think we’re right not to pay over the odds for mid players, but on the other hand that’s not nearly a good enough excuse for failing to cover the squad’s needs again.

Theyve done it before in January the only thing stopping them is their own incompetence.

Laughable club, about time the media stooges started highlighting this

Never seen him play but I’m willing to bet he’s a lot stronger than Doyle. That alone would make him more effective defensively.

Tbf his defensive stats for Betis are a hell of a lot better than I would have guessed they would be:

Glad you put that up as, in fairness, he played most games for Betis who (despite their dedication to chaos) finished 7th in La Liga and looked like a solid (amazingly) team. That’s a distinctly different level of experience to full name Tommy Doyle but plenty of little englanders refuse to acknowledge that kind of thing.

I believe Dewsbury-Hall is available for loan/transfer.
I think he'd fit in well here.

He was absolutely dreadful on Monday. Played like Dave Edwards without a random goal from nowhere.

I thought he played well too. Pointless bringing him up on here, there's a 'he's shit' view that is too firmly entrenched. We can't/won't afford him though

He's rubbish technically, objectively rubbish. I have no idea what you were watching on Monday.

I thought he was OK during that 35 mins where we allowed Chelsea to do what they wanted.

Vanished until he hacked down Gomes in the 2nd half. That was the point the comms said he had struggled against Gomes.
