The January 2025 Transfer Thread

If Cunha goes this month then I’m pretty much done with this season. Fuck Fosun.
I’m pretty well done anyway.

We might survive this season but it’s only delaying the inevitable given how the club is run.

I haven’t felt so disenchanted with the club since 2012 to 2013 with the double relegation.

I have no real affection or connection with the players, and as for the owners, well enough has been said on this forum.

The club will always have a special place in my heart but the current custodians (both players and management) are charlatans.

Bit harsh on the players, bar a few who've had moments of twattishness, the majority and mix is just not good enough.

They don't exactly have agency when it comes to buying, selling, squad creation or how we play

Guo will be flying over so he, Shi & Hobbs can sit down with the Arsenal big wigs following the game and thrash out a deal for Cunha. He’ll be an Arsenal player by the end of the window.

Personally, I think he’s fallen out with, or never really got on with Vítor (pure speculation on my part, but we all saw his body language listening to him v Chelsea) - and has stopped short of handing in a transfer request but has made it clear to the club that he won’t be signing a new deal.

He’s as good as gone IMO. And we could be as good as gone too, without some serious investment this window. 22nd Jan already, though.

Your point on the players - is that not a bit unfair in the sense that all players from every club could be accused of the same thing . Very few players now stay at a club for any more than say 5 years , and even then they are always looking for the very best in any deal they sign .
There will always be upheaval in a club that is hanging close to the relegation door with players concerned for their future if the club goes down , not to mind the other non playing staff - that's to be expected .

I first began to follow Wolves , as I have often said here before when we were as close to the bottom of Division 4 as makes no difference . We were a mess then - but we were a mess in Division 4 , not the Premier League .

It's a frustrating time right now , but it could be an awful lot worse .

Take a look at Luton - they are now 2nd from bottom of the Championship , having being a Premier League club last season .

I'm not giving up anything , regardless of what happens .

The last time they got our finger out and had a decent transfer window they signed 6 players in January and only Gomes was done last minute...and Bentley was the worst of them as a back up keeper.

They can sign players and scout, all the jobs you think a normal club would do, just all everyone else in that in-between the Sky 6 and the promoted clubs manages to do. There just has to be a will for it, and for most of the Fosun tenure it's been Mendes tap on/off at a whim. It's never been a normal strategy or vision and it's catching up to them, at the detriment of the club's prospects staying in the league.

Oh good the I was around in the 80s argument again. Let's just all be happy for what we've got, because 40 years ago it was worse. It really grinds my gears

I mean I just dread to think about Guo's processing power when he's thinking about football. Shi's been living and breathing it for eight years, but his knowledge is only marginally better your average fan from the MLS

I’ll be flabbergasted if he goes in this window. His value isn’t going to tank between now and the end of the season, nobody will pay what we want in January, there’s no chance of getting a replacement in and whilst we can question Shi’s competence in his role, relegation and the loss of at least £250m in the value of the club isn’t in our interests.

Fosun aren't as bothered about relegation as many think, if they were things wouldn't have got to this stage.
