The January 2024 "Will we actually sign a striker or just Che Adams/Kieffer Moore" Transfer Thread

It all comes down to the simple fact that Fosun has no other ambition other than to survive in the Premier division with minimal financial input in my view.
I agree, but it's difficult to know where that line is before it's too late. Without the freak WC timing I still believe we'd have gone down last season. Not a problem for now, but some mismanagement in the Summer and we could be in the shit again.

Well, I guess, it all comes down to the quality of the people they are paying to advise them.

They're pretty shit owners
I think when you look where we were when they took over and where we are now, that's unfair.

However, they've made plenty of mistakes along the way which we've been lucky to have not suffered more from.

It's the fact that they've given up that makes them pointless. If they're not prepared to invest there's no point in them being here, they don't add any other value to the club to make up for it. You can either be "self sustainable" or ambitious, you can't really be both in the Premier League

No one wants to buy us. So they can’t sell. I’m sure if some oil baron bid £350m they’d snap their hand off. Then we’d have some moaning about the ethics of the owner(s) instead.
That's simply not true. I have no doubt there are a lot of potential suitors just not at the price or conditions Fosun want to sell.

Low bar but probably better than Ings and Sasa in terms of a fit for us to bring off the bench?

The accountant said they'd like to sell but no buyers. Only yanks, Saudis and Qataris buying at the moment but they don't want a club in Wolverhampton.
There are no buyers at the price they want is what he said.

It's not a very wise investment for anyone, unless they have bottomless pockets (which basically means you want a Gulf state to buy us, which many wouldn't be keen on).

- It would cost a lot of money to buy us
- The intrinsic value of the club is in its Premier League status, which will never be a long-term given
- The stadium paradox where it's simultaneously effectively worth £0 but also needs major investment at some point
- The natural glass ceiling that a medium-sized provincial club hits

"Just sell us" is as reductive a statement as "sign a striker".

Boooo, no ambishun #deutschOut

Pre-January I'd have liked them to at least focus on signing a winger but now with Fabio and Sasa gone we also need another forward/striker.

I'm not really sure what they're looking for there if a footballer in the mould similar to Cunha is the ideal preference but Ings and Adams are the main targets?

No Hwang, Sasa, Fabio, RAN, Traore and Gomes (for 3 games), the squad is going to look a little thin, sub options will be very limited as all of those featured in the 1st team or squad very recently.

GO made them limited when he Sasa and Fabio on the bench, so nothing new there. Just an U21 is going to take up the role of either not being used or getting a few mins in added time.

Obviously the issue is if any of the few players we have get crocked but we know that. I am sure we will sign players but its fast heading towards being late in the day when they arrive and, at best, being Meh signings
