The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

I don't know about all that, even when we ostensibly lined up with 4, one of the midfielders (usually Ruben or Mario) would drop really deep, basically playing the Coady role.

There's a lot that would surprise me more than us lining up with 5 defenders come September.

I can't work out what's the worst line currently.

  1. Sticking with our goalies after last season (but we got Roberts' mate to cheer them up at training!)
  2. Running the same defence back minus Collins, who was on the bench, but with a familiar right-back which won't challenge the average/barely par guy that's there now.
  3. A midfield that's stocked well but doesn't have much in the way of attacking threat.
  4. Going into the season with our strikers being Raul, Fabio and Sasa.
  5. Fitting Cunha, Sarabia, any wingers we'll still have (all with question marks) into some sort of formation.
None of this would be a surprise to anyone at the club at the end of last season.

I don't think we'll do any of 1-4 and I don't see any problem with 5?

This is going to be my favourite thing of the summer.

Back to earth with a huge bump after being in dreamland over Doc and Kilman.

I actually will be sad when Raul goes. The only striker who has ever come even close to Bully in my time (I've loved a few others, Fletcher probably top of that tree, but realistically they weren't that level).

But it's sentimental value rather than what he can bring to a Premier League team in 2023/24.

Agree, I'm just enjoying the OTT headlines they go with.

Me too, also Jonny. Raul is one of those strikers that even if hes not having his best game, he still gives 100%, doesn't hide.

Obviously there's more to it than just the lineup, but...

Doherty - Dawson - Kilman - Toti - Bueno
That's not the absolute worst back five in the world. Puts an incredible amount of pressure on Kilman to play like he's worth as much as the club think he is, though.

I would disagree.

I think that is absolutely the worst back five in the world.

Bar none.

Swap Toti for Hodge and I'm in.

Seems highly rated by a fair few but he's hardly played any games, seems an extremely small sample size to know if he's actually much cop or not.

Liverpool are the masters of getting rid of utter shit for big money.

As much as I despise Klopp, he rarely gets rid of players that are any good.

We just sold Collins for a profit.

Checkmate.
