The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

Little Liam saying that the Neves deal doesn't change the fact that we're hamstrung by FFP concerns this Summer. Erm, that's not how numbers work, Liam. The deal *does* mean that the concerns are helped massively. Continuing with the initial plan is a strategic choice, not one that's necessitated by FFP constraints.

LL too stupid to question what the club tells him or he's turned into the worst type of client journalist.

Madeley is saying the same thing though, so I’m guessing it’s a line they want out there

Just the club asking them to say we won't be spending £20m+ on a player as previously stated.

Then it becomes their interpretation of what has been said.

Anyone who has been listening would know Neves going changes fuck all.

No doubt some of the gammons on twitter will go into meltdown

That's what Liam needs. Click throughs to his article and Twitter engagement. Best way to do it is put something that will wind the right people up

FFP is utterly dealt with (even taking into account booking future amortisation). If they are pushing this, it suggests cash flow, which is an entirely different thing.

Johnny will be happy.

Wolverhampton have already set a price for the sale of Fabio Silva.

According to information gathered by O JOGO, Wolves intend to recover much of the 40 million euros paid to FC Porto in 2020, setting the bar of 25 M€ as the amount intended by the U-21 international Portuguese, who is at the service of the national team in the European Championship.

Nothing sensational about the headline tbf - just that it doesn’t change our plans. Why would it? We were always looking to sell Neves and we’ve said we want to make a profit this summer.

I know but using terms like hamstrung is hyperbole that shows zero understanding that this is a conscious decision rather than oh shit we can’t pay the tea lady.

If we get €25m then I would be fucking staggered

I think the transfer limit will hamstring us most on finding a good striker, and a better replacement for SA, otherwise I think it should be fine to not spend overs in other positions.

Going by the clubs rumoured to be interested, someone like Alex Scott is not attainable due to a likely bidding war (or just upping of price) anyway.

Me too but if the rumours are to be believed, he has a lot of admirers. Why? Not sure. But he seems highly thought of by a number of clubs.

I’m pretty annoyed with his attitude towards us. If he really believed in his own talent, he could easily be part of the squad next season. Says it all that he wants to leave.

Yeah. I stayed in the wanting Fabio to succeed camp for a long time. Now I want him gone for every penny we can get. Sad times.

I can understand why he's got suitors. His development over the last 18 months has been very good, and he's a 20 year old striker that scored 16 in 50 last year. At €25m with that sort of pedigree and potential it's well worth a go. €40m for a youth team player is obviously not, but Shi's gonna Shi.

If we got offered something in that region with a sell on clause you’d absolutely take it. as much as I think Fábio is going to have a decent career, you just feel like there’s too much baggage surrounding him here.

Don’t think we’d quite get that. Maybe €20m.

I don't want him sold. I want him convincing his future is with us and that he'll be given a proper go in the Prem with support up front rather than thrown in at the deep end only because of injury with the burden of being the only one capable of scoring goals.
