The " Honey I'm home and I'm bloody starving , what's for dinner " Thread.

Gravy with steak somehow combines the dual energies of Donald Trump and Sam Allardyce.
That's harsh man, gravy is perfectly acceptable with steak, doesnt have to be the wishy washy version yer granny made. It's also good to indulge in the fancy dan sauces the others have mentioned.

Was there a poster on here who sprinkled gravy granules onto a steak?

Edit: My error it was gravy on the steak with oxo sprinkled over the chips.

A pot of gravy type stuff alongside steak or beef rib for dunking your chips in is OK, wouldn't want it on the steak though

Liver, bacon, mash and onion gravy or pan seared calves liver with champ potatoes and an onion ragout with oven dried smoked pacetta?

Lack of Pont Jenga is a disappointment

Never been a great fan of offal bar a nice bit of kidney in a pie but that is a very well dressed plate. Must be a good restaurant. Sauce looks a banger

It's the bistro at the hotel I stay at in Guernsey. Yeah, the kitchen is excellent and very reasonably priced.

My life has peaked. Not only did I make a stonking chicken bhuna (Al's Kitchen's latest) but Al himself has used the photo I posted in his curry group as his social media background.

Everything I do in life will pale in significance to this moment.

Curry was fucking fantastic too - probably my 2nd favourite of his I've done (the garlic chilli chicken is still #1 IMO)

In no way the same, but I was extremely pleased to bake a lovely traybake chocolate brownie the other day.
Finished it off last night. mrs jelly was well impressed - always a good result.

Did you make your own mix to make gravy or use his mix?

And do you store/ freeze bags of the gravy. I'm curious as I've watched a few, just never been brave enough to try it yet.

And kudos to the picture that's great. Did he give you a credit for using it?

No base gravy needed with his 30 minute recipes - they're much, much easier to make and they do 4 servings. I just follow his ingredients list to the letter.

Important to use fresh garlic (or garlic and ginger) for these - you can buy them in frozen blocks. The jars or tubes are nowhere near as good.

He does have a spice mix you can buy from the Spicy Joes website which would no doubt be much more convenient (he tends to release them for all his 30 minute curry recipes) but I just use individual spices.

And yes - he asked permission to use the photo! He's a good egg.
