The " Honey I'm home and I'm bloody starving , what's for dinner " Thread.

What are the mixed grills like over there? I usually have one from the local Chinese and they include - Sausage, bacon, liver (which gets binned), pork chops, mushrooms, peas, onions, gravy, and a bag of chips.

Last night I made a butterscotch tart
Took longer than anticipated, and the butterscotch wasn't thickening. Eventually it did, but that meant I didn't get any yesterday. So tonight will be a smallish meal, followed by a generous pudding with lashings of custard!

Well hubbys cooking this one so it will be sausage, bacon, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, egg, hash browns, and a small chop. Gravy on a mixed grill? I wouldnt have peas or onions either on a MG.

Mixed grill should be sausage, rump steak, gammon steak, bacon, possibly a chicken breast.

What the fucking fuck is LIVER doing there??????

Id say liver has more right being on there than a chicken breast!

Seems an odd thing to order from a Chinese takeaway, not really famed for their mixed grills.

Yeah I wouldn't normally have it but it's something guy mum and dad used to have from there so I got used to it.

They are sides. As are peas, chips or hash browns and mushrooms

But they aren't really ' sides ' though. An egg, or tomatoes, or hash browns, or mushrooms, plus ya meats are all part of the actual Grill, they arent side dishes.

Maybe I was just brought up having different things to you on me MG Paddy.

I wouldn't object to liver on a mixed grill.
But I would love you forever if you did me one with a pork chop with the kidney attached...

Kidneys, love em.And a lovely piece of black pudding to go with it. Can't get it here, did order one once from a place in NY, but when it arrived it tasted of cinnamon. They have obviously never tasted proper black pudding.

I find it so strange that the US doesn't 'do' offal, especially given their immigrant history. I would love to visit and try all sorts of their food, but I'm not sure I could stay there...

You should try asking for pigs trotters here! :icon_lol:

I suppose its like everywhere really Billy, stay there long enough and you just get used to it. One thing that is definitely better here is the Steaks. They are delicious, never had a bad one yet. When I go back to UK and eat out, I never ever order a steak now.

A big fat steak would be first on my list if I visited. I also rarely order a steak if I'm out, I would rather pick one myself from the butchers, and cook it myself.
If I win the lottery tonight, and plan a trip round the States, I would plan it around the food I would want to eat rather than more conventional tourist attractions...

Well if you win the lottery stop off in Pittsburgh and we'll go to Primantis!

What kind of foods are you talking about? Not sure theres anything worth planning a trip around it Billy!

Man vs Food is the way to plan where to go for food.
