The " Honey I'm home and I'm bloody starving , what's for dinner " Thread.

I love roast pork nowadays. Like you I always preferred chicken, beef or lamb when I was younger. But now I can also take or leave chicken and would much rather have pork. Whenever I go to a carvery I always have pork instead of chicken now.

I think my parents just used to cook Pork for too long. Dad was of the "if it is juicy it isn't dead yet" fraternity. I hate overdone meat with a passion now. Roast beef is always very pink here, as is lamb. If you overcook pork it can be like an old boot.

I should have more Pork. In fact I can't remember the last time I had it. We always seem to have pork chops which is no where near as good as a juicy Roast Pork with proper crackling. Pork here doesn't seem to taste as nice as in UK.

Pork here as well. Generally ends up being Pork or chicken as the good lady hates lamb and is not a fan of roast beef.

How come, more often than not, it's women who don't like lamb ?

Psychology. It's quite a fatty meat and they've been programmed by society to think that girls shouldn't eat anything fatty wherever possible.

I think it's probably got a lot more to do with what they look like before they end up on the plate.

With my step-daughter it is the pretty gamboling white balls of fluff in the fields. How could you eat one of those?

For me, I see that and I think "bring on the roast potatoes"

Interesting, I too was never a fan of pork as a kid, but it's now my first choice if I'm cooking. Easier to cook right than beef or lamb, and better value. Can't remember the last time I roasted a chicken (although I prefer it to turkey).

My ranking is:

Beef
Pork
Lamb
Chicken
Turkey

Honestly couldn't care less if I never had roast chicken or turkey ever again.

Roast chicken is the worst as it's too easy to dry it out and it be really bland.

Chicken legs or thighs are my favourite nowadays. Lovely and soft/moist.

Chicken thighs are excellent for a curry. Very tasty and robust enough to handle serious spice and heat.

I love chicken, and there is no reason why a chicken or a turkey should end up dry. It's how you cook it. Also, nothing beats gravy made with their giblets and neck.

Turkey is from satan. Chicken, cooked right, is more than acceptable.

Turkey is appallingly bland at best, and just fucking dull. Horrible. If I never encounter it again on my plate I will be delighted.

Had lamb shoulder at The Red Lion in Langdon Green this afternoon. Fucking lush. Lamb is easily the #1 meat IMO.

Chicken, gammon and leek pie tonight. Delicious.

My dad worked on a pig farm, we didn't have a lot of choice in our house, there was constantly half a pig in our chest freezer.
And don't get me started on when his runner beans came into season :)
