The Golf Thread

Oh, the shock. PIF doesn't get instant world domination, and then wants to fuck off. May the same happen shortly in Newcastle.

LIV is very popular over here because of Cameron mullet and a couple of events being held here. I can see it, myself, but people seem to like it.

I actually had a quick lesson yesterday off a local who is a qualified coach. Not swung a club in a long old time but ended up hitting the ball a fair old distance. It does help being 1,000 metres up!

Be good if LIV does end that the DP World and PGA Tour are somehow interwoven, maybe replace US PGA with an overseas major but I guess US time zones and advertisers will block that

It would be more likely that the Players Championship became a fifth major. US viewers will always be king for the PGA tour, and they have the whip hand with revenues and especially prize money.

From my point of view it would be amazing to have a major at say Royal Melbourne which is a superb golf course and definitely at the difficulty level needed for a major. But you have to attract the players and TV rights over here were stretched in a budgetary sense just paying Rory an appearance fee this year. US viewers are not going to want a major in the middle of the night for them.

LIV all but dead... good luck to those players with LIV getting their tour cards back without paying the fines.

Fuck em, I'd make them wait for a season and then have to start from Q-School

Went and played my first round for over 2 years yesterday. Chesterton Valley. Fairly short course, quite unforgiving. Only used the driver twice. Pleased with how consistent my iron play was given how long it has been.
Also great to catch up with a mate who's gone through a tough time.
Hoping to play a few more times this year however options are limited. We liked the Staffordshire but that's closed, & Hill top is still being refurbished.
A lot of places charge near £50 a round now (Hagley, Halesowen and Stourbridge). Enville is £120! Warley Woods looks an option, or dudley, or Lickey hills or cocks moor run by mytime.

My local course here is a place called Tenterfield. About $50 for a round, which is decent value. Good, tight course with plenty of trees, which I prefer to wide-open bomb it types of courses.
