The Goggle Box Thread

Mobland on Paramount+. Great performances from Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. Tom Hardy demonstrating why he's arguably (one of) the best British actor(s).

Loved this weeks Overlap with Duncan Ferguson.

Love Big Dunc

My two favourite stories of him (that aren't battering thieving bastards)

1) When he finished playing he kept turning up to the Everton training ground to coach the youth teams. Without an invite. In the end they said 'we're going to have to give him a job, he won't go away'

2) He hated the SFA as they didn't back him when he was up in court. Nevertheless Craig Brown asked him if he'd come back and play in Euro 96. 'Nae thanks, ah've already booked ma holidays'

From the comments- rings true with his words about how fans of both sides were good to him and he never had any problems (apart from the dd charge) in the City. Considering his past you wouldn’t have thought that possible.

Anyone not from Liverpool needs to understand how much is loved by local people, both red and blue. He’d do anything for anyone and widely respected for being an underrated great player. We love good people that wear their heart on their sleeves. Great fella.

He was a seriously good player too. A hard man yes, but tons of ability too.

Couldn't stay fit at Newcastle but I seem to remember him and Shearer being dynamite when they actually did get to play together.

Despite his reputation as a player he always comes across as a thoroughly lovely guy, so unassuming

Favourites are when he was FGR manager and he played along with Dale Vince and his vegan sausage rolls and pretending to like them and Jimmy Bullard's story about squaring up to him on the pitch, acting tough then realising Big Dunc was waiting for him in the tunnel after the game so Bullard was out on the pitch ages after the game scared to go in!
