The Goggle Box Thread

Just maybe comedy is subjective?
Absolutely, I loved The Good Life, also Rising Damp.
First series of Blackadder was utter tripe for me, obviously the next 3 series were comedy gold.
Speaking of Rising Damp, I also enjoyed the quirky, Fall and Rise of Reginal Perrin.
It's the same with music, these days I try not to be judgemental about 'art' anything that's popular obviously has some merit for certain people.

Edit.
Of course there are some things that have no redeeming features, I give you 'Mrs Brown's Boys'

Blackadder
Father Ted
Phoenix Nights
The Young Ones
Fawlty Towers

Probably my top 5.

Are there any sitcoms these days?

I agree with Ted Lasso, though it's not a sitcom.
Very few that would suit the traditional format these days. OFAH wouldn't get a second series now.
My favourite of the last decade would be Two Doors Down

Loved that.

Done now I guess, as appropriate for this thread the co-writer passed away.
Yeah, he was young too, early 40s i think. The cast have all said they don't want to do it without him

Friday Night Dinner was ok but another that cant come back.

Is odd if you watch it and what was clearly the pilot episode is now episode 2 or 3 and Jim the neighbour is just not right.
And the episode where Wilson dies is just shit. (Keeping it in the RIP arena)

On 2 Doors Down as well, the pilot for that is like a completely different show.

Surprised someone hasn't mentioned Auf Wiedersehen Pet.

Not really my era as I was too young but it was well loved.

I used to watch Bread when I was really young but I bet that has aged really badly.
