The Goggle Box Thread

Thanks will do, seen it mentioned in relation to Kin a few times.

Just watched first 2 episodes of Kin Series 2.

Uncle Bren is a nasty piece of work, bit different to Uncle Bryn!
If you like your podcasts, Hot Money is great which is about the Kinnehan gang which the Kinsellas aren't based on at all...

It's eye-opening to say the least.

I like the sound of that 👍

Quite like Amol Rajans interviews, tends to have people I wouldn't normally consider. Just watched his chat with Sheila Hancock, she's an interesting character.

Have the gladiators been told they can’t smash them in Gauntlet? Looks like they aren’t even trying. Crossed my mind it might be some concussion ruling but they were smashing them in powerball.

Bradley and Barney Walsh really are a crap choice for hosting Gladiators with their terrible attempts at a humour double act.

They had it right in the 90s with a man and a woman presenting, mirroring the format of the show. She gets plenty of stick but someone like Alex Scott would have been a good fit for the female presenter as a fit and athletic ex sportsperson.

Finished Kin Season 2 last night, magnificent! Apparently they are about to start filming Season 3, hope they get a move on!

She's Masked Singering on the other side at the same time...possibly

Yeah, one or the other would have been ok along with a different host, I agree Scott would have been a good choice. I'm still enjoying the show though, especially watching it with my grandkids.

Agreed. Don’t seem to have any energy. I don’t know what Barney’s background is but he doesn’t seem a very good presenter full stop and Bradley definitely more suited to a quiz show, John Fashanu he ain’t.

The best thing about the show is the theme tune. Still awesome.

Second episode of True Detective season 4 is better than the first. Watch it. Watch it.

Re-watched The Pacific and now halfway through yet another rewatch of Band of Brothers before I start on Masters of the Air.

Band of Brothers remains the best TV drama ever made - and I've started listening to the official HBO podcast after every episode (made a couple of years ago for the 20th anniversary of the show). It's absolutely excellent - there's a special guest (or 2) on each episode, a cast or crew member. It's superb - well worth a listen.

Band of Brothers is utterly brilliant. I've lost count of how many times I have watched it. While The Pacific doesn't quite hit that high benchmark, it is still a brilliant series. I don't have Apple TV so won't be watching Masters of the Air unfortunately. It looks good too.

You might be able to get a month's trial to Apple TV. In which case, wait til all the episodes are out and binge them. My wife has a code for a trial which I'll activate once it's all available.

As for The Pacific - it's absolutely superb, but I do feel that some of the episodes are ever so slightly filler-fodder (Melbourne, for instance). BoB doesn't have an ounce of fat on it. The Pacific's main negative is that BoB preceded it - it would have been much better received if it didn't have BoB hanging over it!

I need to re-watch before beginning Masters of the Air. Thanks for the podcast listen, I'll have to get round to giving it a whirl. It's been a while but read all the Stephen E. Ambrose books after initially watching Band of Brothers.

The final of Traitors: without giving too much away for people who might still want to watch, how fucking stupid/naive/gullible can one person be?
