The Goggle Box Thread

Just finished Trigger Point. Top drawer again, cracking show
Was excellent. We preferred it to season 1 as it focused more on the one storyline rather than each episode being a different case which improved it no end

Finished Finders Keepers with Neil Morrissey and the irritating Inbetweeners guy, pretty much pap. Open for another series I think.

Onto Payback now, Edinburgh crime drama, pretty good

True Love on 4 is outstanding btw, forgot to mention. Really interesting story, great drama and brilliantly acted

Been watching the Miners Strike (Channel 4), fucking ell makes me feel old now.
Took my kids,on marches in support of them.

Fool me once on Netflix is irredeemable bullshit. The story, the characters, the 'twists', the writing, everything about the thing is fucking terrible.
All of Harlan Cobens stuff is garbage. Formulaic shite. Always set in affluent leafy suburbs with families who have loads of money but a secret from the past to hide. TV for teenagers.

I watched the first episode last week because Shirebrook isn't far up the road from me. Bit of an eyeopener as someone not originally from round here and not old enough to have witnessed any of it at the time but there are plenty of similar towns round this way in the same sort of situation, they simply wouldn't exist without the mines so understandable that the closures and strikes became contentious. Was talking to a guy I used to work with about it, he grew up in another such town and left school in '83, said plenty he knew from school got wrapped up in it as they followed fathers' footsteps and was a big part of why he went into construction instead to avoid all the drama.

If you like Edinburgh crime dramas, I highly recommend Irvine Welsh's Crime. Dark subject matter but dark humour, really well written and acted.
Binged both seasons over Christmas.

We've already watched those, excellent

read one of his books as well and thought it was fucking terrible. awful plot holes, and poor quality characters. I mean, there was a character who was a detective in her 40's with a teenage son who was a cyber crime expert, yet didn't know how to set up a facebook account FFS.
Utter wank. Why are his books lauded?

I presume easy reading.

They guy churns out book after book each year and has a huge Netflix and Prime contract. If he can earn multi millions on the back of that, then fair fucks to him.

I kind of enjoyed it for what it was, pretty silly but an easy watch. The kind of thing I forget all about as soon as it’s done but it was alright.

‘Safe’ was one of his as well wasn’t it? That one I remember enjoying more.

Safe the one with Michael C Hall in? That was decent

Its one of his. He has had a few on Netflix.

Coben has about a million books so enough to keep Netflix going with new drama forever

It's not aimed at middle aged blokes who like Jack the Ripper true crime stuff.

It's like complaining Lee Childs stuff didn't have enough romance and depth.

The TV dramatizations have Michelle Keegan though to appeal to middle aged blokes who like Jack The Ripper crime stuff

Second season has just started. Although I may wait until it’s all been on so I can also binge watch.
A year later, finally got round to watching the second season of Your Honor. Well worth a watch if you're a fan of Bryan Cranston.
