The Goggle Box Thread

New Black Mirror season on Netflix dropped today.

Watched a few episodes of the new Full Monty series and sadly, it's a bit shit.

Some decent performances but the scripts are a mixture of plain stupid and downright awful. A lot of them are lazy, make no sense and never get the right balance between comedy and drama.

It's not a patch on the film.

The Wayne Couzens documentary on C5 last night was extremely well done - it's a devastating and infuriating watch.

Rewatching Lewis on ITVX. It is just as good as I remembered.
I am ignoring the fact that Laurence Fox is a loony - in fact he plays a great part. What a twat he is.

Same how I felt about 'History of the World Part II'.Love Mel Brooks and the original movie but that...😔

The Pez Outlaw on Netflix.

A weird but highly entertaining documentary about a weird eccentric guy from the US who collected and sold Pez dispensers and went over to Europe where they were made, to keep his fix going.

No, me neither....!! But it has such an amusing way of telling the story using dramatic reconstructions using the main protagonist who plays himself. He's a complete OCD crazy guy but such a great character.

A very entertaining watch.

Can't remember if I'd mentioned it on here before, but Colin From Accounts is really fucking funny. Just a standard sitcom that focuses on being piss funny rather than taking up an elevated social position or trying to tell some grandiose morality tale, blah blah blah.
Thanks to you and anyone else who recommended this. It’s ace.

1-6 for Red Dwarf are superb
7-8 Meh, although some highlights especially the Rimmer Experience that Kryten makes
That fucking horrendous thing they did that even included them visiting the set of Corrie - a crime against TV
Dave Channel Series - At best Meh

I'm worried it won't have aged well 😬

I watched quite a lot with my kids a few years back and the better seasons (IMO 4 and 5 are the peak) still hold up well. Doesn't really matter about some ropey effects, the scripts and performances are brilliant.

They should have just quit at 6 really. That was the original plan but they changed their mind during season 6 but the Craig Charles stuff delayed it and then meant he wanted to go and do other stuff and then by the time he was available Chris Barrie was off doing other things and his relationship with Craig Charles was still not that good.

From memory as well, seasons after 6 were not done with all the original writers on board. I seem to remember issues in season 6 and the final episode being written as they filmed it due to the huge time constraints the BBC put on them and it meant they couldn't change the ending and had to some crafty editing to get the cliff-hanger finish

Watched them again during lockdown. 1&2 are up there with the greats of sitcom.

I’d forgot about the scene in the loft in series 3 of Luther, that was actually brilliant TV.

The Crowded Room on Apple TV is really good but very dark.
