The Goggle Box Thread

It does go a little beyond lip service there though - there’s a phenomenal amount of regular churchgoers for example.
For sure; it's definitely not without some weight.

I think we're down to ~65% of the public identifying as Christian, which I would guess is lower than most would think.

I don't know for certain that that's a good or bad thing (whatever my own beliefs, I don't particularly find the idea that atheism is intellectually superior to, uh, non-atheism, to really hold that much water), but them's the numbers.

What "American values" are you referring to?

Religion plays a big part over here but you've missed the biggest American value of all: money. The election of Trump also shows the power religion actually has here: not much. People will toss aside their faith quite readily when push comes to shove.

At least we beat Ireland to the punch on divorce. 🤷‍♂️
It's not religion in itself though, it's a few peoples vision of what religion should be, based on their own views of what is acceptable using religion as a stick to beat people with opposing views.
Apologies if this is a load if bollocks, just got in from the pub.😆

Daisy Jones and The Six is every bit as good as I hoped it would be.

If you haven’t read it then I’m not sure if you’ll be as into it as me but I really loved the book. I also listened to the soundtrack album before watching so I was totally invested in it before I’d even seen the first episode.

I think they’ve done a really good job of making the band and the songs come to life.

A bit of a sideways step, but when I was 11 I found a big thick book and started reading until it was done. Took fucking months but it was gripping, best story I'd ever read, but then again I was only 11.
I give you life in the Welsh Valleys and a shit load of mining disasters as the family grew up....
How Green Was My Valley.
I don't want to read it again in case it's shite.

Just watched the final episode of Endeavour. Been putting it off for the exact same reason I’ve never read the final Morse book.

It was possibly the best episode of the lot and one of the finest TV programmes I’ve ever seen.

Watching The Twelve on itv. Not sure about the show but Brooke Satchwell has still got it.

After catching up on Succession and hearing beforehand and avoiding the massive plot twist, I was disappointed with what it was.

Just started S3 of Succession so sssshhhhhh. Please

Going to watch the Raoul Moat series purely to see how the fuck they handle the Gazza part.

Quite a lot of outrage up here from what I've seen at the inaccurate and unrepresentative portrayal of parts of Gateshead. Plus the Gazza bit isn't even in it as far as I'm aware? 🤷‍♂️

There was mention of Gazza via an audible news report saying that he had shown up at the scene

It was a good dramatization but completely baffling that the thuggish bully that was Moat became some kind of fucking 'hero' and 'legend'. He was scum

Started watching Blue Lights on iPlayer last night, pretty good in a The Bill - Max kind of way, but if it's even close to representative of what it's like to police those communities...fuck me I wouldn't even do that for £100k a year

I quite like it, hopefully for the sake of the police and communities its heavily dramatised.
