The Goggle Box Thread

Yeah my least favourite. Though it had its moments.

It's the weakest one imo. From memory it has less of the main characters from the police side than the other series
Yeah season 2 was my least favourite. That Ziggy character was the worst character in the whole show. Up there with Brother Mouzone for shitness

Actually season 2 picks up at the end and sets the scene for season 3 which is the best IMO
Yeah agreed. The first 3 or so of season 2 are slow.

The Wire is quite different to a lot of shows I've watched, it starts slow and builds to a crescendo each season.

Whereas a lot shows start strong, lull in the middle then end strong.

That's a fair assessment. I found the early episodes of each season tough to get through.

Season 2 from episode 5 on is superb but those first 4 can be a bit of a slog setting the scene.

Loved The Wire up there with the best, agree though season 2 was the weakest of the lot.

Finished episode 4 and it’s setting up nicely. I’ll watch another couple tonight.

Lads, you do know you've stopped talking about the Wire, don't you

Boardwalk was good, Generation Kill was alright. Treme was extremely dull - I don't think I finished it, got too bored of it.

If you like The Wire, you must watch The Corner - it was the prequel to the Wire, set on a single corner of a block in Baltimore about a family living there and the struggles each member of the family is going through. It was excellent at the time, havent seen in around 20yrs now but definitely one to watch if you liked the Wire ( happy now Paul?)

Never fancied BE. I love Steve Buscemi as an actor but that’s just never appealed.

It seemed to get to a point and not move forward and thats where I lost interest.

Same thing with the Sopranos...just turned into the same thing repeated so never made it to the end of that either

I think the beauty of the Sopranos was that it ebbed and flowed well. The writers chose the perfect time for the end IMO as new storylines may have been hard to write.

Coincidentally Steve Buscemi's series of the Sopranos was probably the best.

Sopranos never appealed either, I’d rather watch James Gandolfini in True Romance over and over.
