The Goggle Box Thread

Unlike a lot of US shows that have pilots that have a hell of a lot going on early on, the Wire is definitely a slow burner.
It definitely is. Like I say there a couple of actors in there I don't particularly like so it put me off straight away (McNulty is growing on me a bit now) and being a very slow pilot I just didn't think it was for me but perseverance is key with this one. The plot is really deep and the storyline is very fleshed out so plenty to work with.

A somewhat different role in the Wire!
Yeah! Polar opposites! Six episodes in now and really starting to enjoy it to be fair, I think I went expecting something paced like The Shield or Banshee and just had to recalibrate. Got to admit it is very good.

The good thing about The Wire is that it gets better as it goes along.
Season 3 was my favourite - the plot has so many storylines interweaving at that point and some full on drama too with some of the newer characters. Apart from Season 5, each season got better as it went on.

Paused Netflix while I went to the loo. daughter walks in the room and sees I've been watching a series called 'Swedish Dicks'

Much hilarity ensues !

Got to keep the number down else it'd be like my facebook feed - tumbleweed, as I've put pretty much everyone on ignore.
I never ever go on Facebook. Absolutely hate it with a passion.

I've been binging the US version of The Office recently. Although it's nowhere near as good as the UK version (and a different beast entirely after the first few episodes), it's still quite good but the quality absolutely tanks after Steve Carrell leaves. Can't remember the last time I saw a show plummet so quickly - looking forward to finishing it now TBH!

In other TV watching news, we've really enjoyed The Fall and have just finished Harlan Coben's Safe on Netflix which is very good indeed. So we've started The Stranger.

I’ve been looking at that Safe for a while, it’s on my watchlist. I’ll get round to it at some point.

Into the second season of The Wire. Hasn’t got me as much as the first season yet but I’m only three episodes in.

It's the weakest one imo. From memory it has less of the main characters from the police side than the other series
