The Goggle Box Thread

I really enjoyed Stranger Things. Compelling viewing. Very "Super 8" in style and tone.

It's one of those I keep meaning to but keep forgetting about. I'll get round to it one day.

Loved the first episode of Stranger Things, you can tell when TV is good when a 45 minute episode feels like it's only been on 10 minutes. The missus actually wanted to watch another one straight after but didn't realise what time it was.

Watched "Go 8 Bit" on Dave last night

Silly little Game Show with celebs but they play 5 different games during the show - Some classics (last night was Chuckie Egg, Tekken & Tetris). Was a decent little show, if just for a bit of nostalgia.

My missus was the same. She complained at the intro when it was all eighties synth, but by the end she wanted to keep watching episodes. It's definitely a series to watch at the weekend, when you can watch 3 in a row.

With the kids back at school we should have more time on the nights now to watch loads more stuff, the missus fucked it up last night by having to watch Holby first.

Loved Stranger Things. Probably doesn't bear thinking about too much as the plot is holier than a monk in fishnets and a string vest, but they got the early-80s John Hughes/John Carpenter thing down brilliantly. And a great synth soundtrack.

Perfect for my missus then.

Spot on. I thought the titles were a classic mix of Halloween crossed with Terminator or some sci-fi shit I can't remember. Then you've got the Goonies mixed in there as well, even the sheriff reminded a bit of the sheriff out of First Blood.

Just watching the latest New Lost Sitcom on BBC4, Hancocks Half Hour, pretty good.

Been banging the soundtrack for a few weeks now whilst exercising......(out on vinyl in the near future too)
Actually the blokes behind the soundtrack (s u r v i v e) have a new lp out soon too.

looking forward to the survive album. track on the music thread.

Hopefully yes if they can keep up the standard - wouldn't want it to carry on only for the storyline to go downhill as that will spoil what was a tremendous programme.

Sometimes it's better to stop when you are still at the top of your game.

That was the mistake Broadchurch made. First series was absolutely tremendous, but the plotline of the second became ridiculous at times.

From Earth to the Moon - HBO miniseries about the space race. Not heard of it before but it's very good. Sort of a docu-drama but they've done it very well indeed.

I love stuff about the space race.
