The Football News Thread 2024/25

Fucking ouch, Tredders!
Harsh and a tad unfair I know. A point I probably make far too often though is we (in the west) cast lots of judgement on countries like Saudi without considering the harm caused by our own countries.

Don’t worry mate, I may think Saudi is morally reprehensible as a State, but I’m sure not letting the US off the hook in that regard. Not least because our government tacitly enables the Saudis to do their BS.

We’ve been here before playing football in Morocco and southern Spain in June/July is inhumane often gets above 40+ and still scorching at night time.
FIFA have morals when it suits them and are happy to turn a blind eye when money is coming their way.
Basically people have morals until those morals dent their cash flow.

IMG-20241211-WA0000.jpgwasn't sure where to put this. But it made me laugh.

Everton takeover by The Friedkin Group expected to be complete by Christmas and they want Dan Ashworth in as SD

Ange Postecoglou's comments were interesting I thought re Werner .

Werner has been poor for a good while , covering a few clubs . He completely threw him under a bus last night I thought . Lage did that once and O' Neil deflects criticism towards players as well - and in both cases we tend to see fans not being happy with that . Criticise them privately and drop them if necessary .

I'd love Werner to come out after the next bad loss and call Postecoglu's performance as unacceptable. See how he likes it.

Just a sign that he is really feeling the pressure, which has surprised me! Very unlike him to do that

I guess the thing you never know in those situations is what might have already been said behind closed doors. He could've had a private word with Werner before, maybe escalated to calling him out in the changing rooms and finally he's just resorted to digging him out completely in the public eye. Still not a great look though.

The last resort of a manger who knows his days are numbered. If results continue to stink throwing players under the bus just alienates the rest of the playing staff in time.

Ironic really given the vitriol that we as supporters level at players. Obviously we're not managers, but still.

Maybe the rest of the squad feel the same about Werner?
