The footage of his accident and his careless driving is on the west mids police Facebook page, £82,500 fine as well

Now personally don't like the bloke (dislike Mings more) and the ban is perfectly acceptable but £82500 ?

I thought the punishment should fit the crime, not the criminal ?

But he got done for what, careless driving that's a maximum of £5k, speeding as well that's £2.5k Is the rest for being a twat ?

It was careless driving twice, so I'm guessing the fine has been treated as though it was dangerous driving which is unlimited

Fines have been reflective of earning capacity for many years - if it was a standard fine then he could just scrabble around in his pocket to pay it

I thought that was just for the ability to pay rather than a basis for the level of fine ?

Can only speak for speeding fines, but they’ve been a % of weekly earnings for a while.

The aim of a fine is to punish an offender financially by limiting their disposable income, rather than by restricting their freedom or forcing them to give back to the community.

A court will decide the amount an offender should pay, taking into account both the nature and seriousness of their offence, and the offender's ability to pay a fine, unless it's a fixed penalty.

It still up to a maximum though isn't it ?

Yes, in some cases. Dangerous driving is unlimited.

I once got done for totting up but managed to keep my license. Court fine was definitely means tested based on weekly wage.

Millwall's next two fixtures postponed following an unspecified number of positive cases in the first team squad.
Any chance this new mutation strain will cause another suspension of all fixtures?

Few teams having to postpone games, so a chance things could stop again
