That's not their real released list, that's players out of contract. Townsend for instance has already been told they want him to stay

Was gonna say, why is Van Aanholt released. He's first choice LB isn't he?

Moxey tactic - State released...get player to sign a new deal...NEW SIGNING

Oooo... The Super League 6 will pay £20m "compensation" to the Premier League. That'll teach them

Even worse, that's £20m between them, not each
UEFA levels of slap on the wrist bullshit

The Premier League will introduce “thicker lines” to VAR offsides next season in a bid to deal with the hugely unpopular marginal decisions.

The thicker lines will give a bigger margin of error to the offsides and aims to give the benefit of the doubt back to the attacker, sources have confirmed.
Premier League clubs and referees chiefs hope the change will have a huge impact because many of the offside decisions given when an attacker’s toe — or even armpit — is just in front of the defender will no longer be penalised.

The system is already used by other competitions such as Uefa and in the Dutch league. One change that will result from the thicker lines is that broadcasters and TV viewers will no longer see the process of drawing the offside line, just the final result.
The clubs had taken part in a survey of VAR and asked to give their views on changes they wanted to see.
The clubs were updated on plans for automated offside technology but were told that it will be two years at least before it can be used in the Premier League so took the decision to use the thicker lines.
The VAR changes follow a survey of club managers, captains and sporting directors. Fans’ views of the VAR system will also be taken into account as part of the proposed changes.
A presentation to the clubs in March stated: “The purpose is to identify improvements to the VAR system and form a common understanding of where a VAR interpretation is expected and how changes can be made to increase consistency in interpretation and decision-making.

The VAR offside decision was taken at the annual general meeting of the Premier League’s 20 clubs near Harrogate. Referees chiefs were also asked to look at ways to raise the bar so that penalties for fouls in the box have to be more clear-cut and a working party will be set up to draw up some criteria.

“The results will inform the coaching and training of match officials during the close season and changes will take effect in season 2021-2022.”
Criticism of the use of VAR has continued throughout last season, the second year it has been in operation in the top flight, despite changes introduced in August where referees were told to consult pitchside monitors themselves for subjective decisions."

I was advocating that from the start. It won't stop it looking marginal on screen, but the overall doubt should be less.

Yep, things like a stud on your boot as you run away from goal should be eliminated at least

how thick is the line, 1 cm? :)

At least there's not an increased chance of Lee Mason being on VAR next oh.

It just moves the issue by the thickness of a line.

Last seasons mm close calls will now all be onside but a bunch that looked relatively conclusive will now be under the microscope as they're looking for a mm gap between two thicker lines.
You're missing the point.

Yes you're still judging where a line is but the relative distance of offside will increase to something which is much easier to accept with the naked eye.

If they made the lines 6 inches thick you wouldn't be saying "ah but it's just moving the microscope", because you can see much clearer with the naked eye that any decision is justified.

Of course you might get ones that are microscopically onside that people will say still looks off. But that is a matter of judging the thickness of the line correctly to reduce that as much as possible to a sensible middle ground.

People will always argue the tight decisions, doesn't matter if it's the very absolute offside rule we gave now, the old fashioned 'daylight' thing that people hark back to or this new tolerance of the width of a line. If they're still going to be drawing lines and looking at it down to the pixel then it doesn't really give any tolerance on the decision, just alters which ones are contentious.

It might be a suitable compromise for you, that doesn't mean it works for everyone.

To me it just needs to be a replay and you go off the original decision. If the lino has obviously got it wrong (just to pick one example, Mané on the final day of 2018/19 against us) then fine, reverse it. Otherwise it stays and you only realistically need one replay.

Coke have had more exposure from Ronaldo moving 2 bottles than they would get from the 2 bottles just sitting there. 2 days solid of getting news stories. They are loving it
Some outlets said Ronnie wiped millions of their share value but that was bollocks.
