Exactly. Closing down his horrible website might be a good idea too. He clearly has no remorse and no sympathy whatsoever for his victim.

Although to be fair, the full statement said he had been unable to say things due to his appeal being ongoing and has only just got the legal advise that he can say something. Probably should have kept silent from the off a the video he made did him no favours

Blackburn Rovers' net debt has risen to £79.8m from £54.5m as they struggle to comply with Financial Fair Play rules.
The Championship club are currently under a transfer embargo for breaching FFP regulations.
Under existing rules, clubs were permitted to lose no more than £8m in total last season, but Rovers recorded losses of £42.1m.

OUCH!!

This used to be called a death wish.

'Messi or me' - Luis Enrique's ultimatum to the Barcelona board.

The logic behind that threat!!!

David Conn ‏@david_conn 2 mins2 minutes agoChed Evans: Police say they called Oldham Athletic & sponsors and were told no threats been made; a couple of "low level abuse on Twitter."

It's hard to see anyone taking him on at least until the judicial review is done (unlikely it will succeed either given he has already had a Crown Court appeal and lost). There's just too much stigma attached to him. He almost certainly has been badly advised, fuck him though.

Maybe 'Arry will take him...

I think it's about getting a second chance in life. It's very difficult, people make mistakes, dreadful mistakes in life, but people go in prison or whatever they do, whether you've murdered someone or whatever, unfortunately a lot of them come out. But once you've done your time you've done your time, and somewhere along the line you've got to come out and make a go of your life. So it's a very difficult situation at the moment with the lad who is a footballer and wants to play football. What does he do? If he goes and works in a supermarket people are going to say 'we've got a rapist working in the supermarket. Somewhere he's got to work, whether it's football or somewhere, he can't just not be allowed to carry on with his life.

Fuck off Redknapp. Yes, he should be allowed to work and get on with his life, perhaps not straight back to the high profile, well paid job he had before though, eh? Especially as he still hasn't even finished his sentence.

Didn't Hughes, Pennant and King all return to well paid positions while serving part(s) of their sentences?

Pennant was playing with a tag on his ankle. I just presume King was playing when either charged or serving a sentence (hard to keep up with his total offences).

If you class when still being on parole as part of their sentence then yes. Oldham have backed out because their sponsors would walk, the rest as posted by DW is a smokescreen.

Problem for Evans is that once there was all the original issues at Sheff Utd, everyone else is now going to have to follow suit so he is screwed.

IMO what Lee Hughes did is a worse crime and he is still to this day a total scumbag. Yet as mentioned, he got to continue playing football.

True, but I'd rather not have football's moral compass set indefinitely by Lee Hughes and what Oldham did seven and a half years ago. Precedent is irrelevant here. Also like it or not but the world has moved on somewhat even since then, social media is, rightly or wrongly, more of a factor in what clubs do and how they judge the overriding mood to be.

Was there such a kerfuffle when Tyson returned to Boxing following his rape conviction?

The difference between a team and an individual sport. Tyson did not have an employer as such, I know King promoted him and venues put his fights on, but not the same as the footballing situation

I wouldn't disagree with your broader point, but social media is a lot more powerful today, women's groups are also involved which are a powerful lobbying group and finally the extent of Hughes' crime was never officially publicised, although most people on here know(and Piers Morgan) what they were.

I presume that at some time in the future that Ched Evans will be allowed to work again.

But not necessarily as a footballer. If his appeal review fails I can't see a club touching him. Rehabilitation says a criminal with a spent conviction is entitled to a job. It doesn't say that they are entitled to their job of choice.

I just think that at some time he should be allowed to continue his career. How long he should wait is another matter.

Still don't see how she was any more able to consent with McDonald than she was with Evans, it says she was already considered intoxicated before she bumped into McDonald.

Greater Manchester Police's chief constable Sir Peter Fahy said his force would investigate threats to Oldham's staff and their families.

A lot of people said that Evans should not be signed by Oldham Athletic, but two wrongs do not make a right.
