Chivas USA finished. Thoughts Alan?
 
They were dead years ago. Only difference now is that it's official. Most expect a replacement franchise to crop up somewhere in California in two years time.
 
Failed to catch the Latino (for want of a better word, if that is offensive I am sorry) population's imagination then? Must have been tricky with Becks in town at the other team.
 
The idea was that they'd pull over all the supporters of Chivas Guadalajara. Instead, the Guadalajara supporters just kept supporting Guada and never really cared about USA. And the rest of LA's football-loving population had already been attached to LA Galaxy. Beckham coming over combined with USA's total ineptitude year after year was the nail in the coffin. They played their final game last week and the stadium was pretty much empty. If USA had ever had competent management/ownership things could have turned out much differently. Success breeds support, and they unfortunately were competing against two hugely successful clubs (Galaxy in MLS, Guadalajara in MX). It was doomed once the on-field product turned out to be shit.

I won't get into it too much but suffice it to say that pinning your club's success on a disadvantaged population is a bit flawed from the outset, too. Kind of a silly idea.

No worries about Latino, it's not a very good descriptive word but it's not offensive.

We don't really have that over here - as everyone (bar McDons) has to start from the bottom, but it sounds like it would be like setting up AFC Polska in Wolverhampton and expecting the Polish immigrant population to pack a stadium out. Erm, no, that won't work.

I know of a couple who've started coming to Wolves games since being in Wolverhampton but that's it. The club is missing a trick by not targeting the more recent immigrant community in the same way it's successfully attracting the more established Asian community.
 
He had a phone conversation with Neil Warnock, and left the Hawthorns on his own. I think he has a bit of explaining to do.
 
He needs to explain why he went to see Ed Sheeran more.......

Probably best not to use a derogatory word for women on a public twitter feed really.
 
That's ripe for a BBC Three throwaway toss programme surely. "Rio Gets Schooled".
