More on Leeds....Redfearn has apparently been told he can't pick Mirco Antenucci as he is 1 goal away from triggering a contract extension and bonus.

Doesn't it just warm your heart to see a club's supporters love a player so much?

Redfearn is now said to be considering his position at Leeds United. What on earth is going on there. Leeds have improved considerably since Redfearn took charge.

Can't imagine that Gala talk about it much and I for one don't expect Sneijder to keep up with Leeds' history.

Either way he took down the tweet and apologized, so what's the issue?

*sighs* there is no issue Alan, it's just an interesting bit of football news, considering the timing.

Was more asking the question of hypothetical Leeds supporters than you, mate. Sorry, we seem to have had a rocky morning!

As football merchandise goes, a knife set is pretty far out, but considering who it is and the connotations involved, plus the timing, makes the whole thing pretty bad taste. You may not be aware, but the Leeds incident is one of many involving Galatasaray fans stabbing rival fans, Utd, Chelsea and Russian fans have all been stabbed by them over the years.

So the fact they are releasing a knife set of all things, on the anniversary weekend of the death of the Leeds fans, beggars belief tbh

That's fair, I guess I wasn't giving enough credit to the club for their role in matter.

My other side (Woking - lived there for 20 yrs & watched some memorable cup upsets supporting them when I couldn't afford money or time to come up to the Midlands) doing a Wolves & hanging onto to the last playoff place on goal diff with 4 to play. Top 3 are well away & no chance of automatic promotion, as there is only one place.

2 from 5 for the last 2 play off places (assuming Eastleigh & Halifax win the game in hand) so an exciting end to the season. Almost 3000 in there yesterday so well done to a side that is still on a semi pro basis.

Just been poking around FIFA 07 to relive Totti's glory days... This game had some absolutely hysterical player ratings in hindsight. Some highlights:

Nikola Zigic: 98 Heading Accuracy, 97 Finishing
Leon $#@!ing Clarke: 89(!) OVR potential
Freddy Adu: 87 OVR potential
Luis Suarez: 61 OVR, 74 OVR potential
Manuel Neuer: 64 OVR, 76 OVR potential (wooops)
Juan Mata: 72 OVR potential
Ivan Rakitic: 65 OVR potential
Thiago Silva: 67 OVR
Marek Hamsick: 62 OVR
Ezequiel Garay: 65 OVR
Branislav Ivanovic: 67 OVR
Rickie Lambert: 43 OVR
Ashley Williams: 47 OVR, 64 OVR potential
Shaun Wright-Phillips: 88 OVR potential

Posted this in the video game thread but thought some of you who may not venture there would still find it amusing.

Andrea Dossena arrested for shoplifting at Harrods.

WTF Orient?

Zinedine Zidane says that fielding Martin Ødegaard is like "playing down a man".

On three occasions, Castilla’s coaching staff have called meetings with the player and his parent to explain the situation and advice him to attend Castilla’s training sessions on a more regular basis. Yet neither Ødegaard nor his father seem to realize that changing tack and taking the advice they’ve been given on board is the right thing to do as the teenager’s progress with Castilla constitutes an essential part of his own development. Regrettably, some players have complained that the teenager “can’t be bothered” with his Castilla team mates and is only interested in being alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s clear that his integration at Madrid would be much easier and far smoother with player of his own age. That’s something which Ødegaard should think about.

England Womens U19s must play the last 18 seconds of their European qualifier after the referee messed up. England had a penalty deep into stoppage time. They scored but the referee disallowed the goal for encroachment but then restarted with an indirect free kick to Norway instead of a retake!

Current FIFA world rankings:

1. Germany, 2. Argentina, 3. Belgium, 4. Colombia, 5. Brazil, 6. Netherlands, 7. Portugal, 8. Uruguay, 9. Switzerland, 10. Spain

England: 14
Wales: 22
Scotland: 29
Northern Ireland: 42

That's the way the rules should be, IMHO.
