The Film Thread

Henry Cavill will be hard to top, he was perfect for the role.

Is it a bird, is it a plane? No it's the bloke from accounts on level 6!!

And yes I know the irony of that is Clark Kent in the original films was an office geek. But nowadays casting has moved on.

Watching all James Bond films in order of release. Some really silly moments that make me laugh but it's easy to dissect in hindsight. Some of his fight moves are funny too. Quite a lot of cringe moments that come with the times I guess..

Huge Bond fan and yes a lot of times some ridiculous moments but that's what makes them so much fun lol.

That bloke is such a bland and vanilla looking DC superman choice.
Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue model from the late 90's and about as interesting too.

Superman needs binning off for a while.

Same with most superhero moves anymore tbh. Fun when they first started popping out left and right, now its just gotten stale.

Hard to disagree with that.

American writers on the whole can't develop characters/ superheroes without jumping an ocean full of sharks eventually.

Marvel are in a dip in the writing due to saturation. DC movies other than some of the Batman movies are awful though.

I know I am a Marvel fanboi and totally biased but surely the DC universe must commit to celluloid somewhat better than it has? Superman has been shit on film since about 1983.

Naa man, Man of Steel was fucking brilliant. Absolutely banging movie. Zack Snyder's uncut JL was pretty good too (bar Jared Leto as The Joker, he should NEVER play that part again, beyond awful) and Matt Reeve's Batman reboot is top notch, I've never watched a Batman movie so many times in quick succession, it's so good.

Secret Invasion looks pretty good from Marvel so far after a couple of episodes but Phase 4 was total wank. I doubt they'll redeem themselves completely now though, Iron Man and Cap America were the anchors of the whole franchise and now they're relying on second and third tier characters, it's impossible to carry with characters of limited interest and terrible writing to boot.

I did wonder if there'd be a huge critic/audience divide. Everyone I know that has seen it says it's brilliant and way better than crystal skull.

Man of Steel was great until the final act. Still nowhere near 1 and 2 though. Rest of DC I've disliked apart from the Flash which was very good.

The Batman was fantastic - just like the video games.
