The Film Thread

Imagine getting that worked up about a film of a comic book

Endgame isn't a comic book. Infinity War was based on a Marvel Title called Infinity (although not the ending which was MILES different), but Endgame is entirely MCU product.

/Marvel pedantry

Couldn't care less about it but glad it seems to be what Marvel fans wanted it to be. Knowing the spoilers, have to admit they made some bold decisions I wouldn't have backed them to actually follow through on, so good on them.

It's visually stunning. The plot is ace (although it uses a standard sci-fi trope that is done to death, but saves that by taking the piss out of the trope and itself (Doc Brown references anyone??)) and I loved every second.

Its poignant at the end. It ties loads of threads together to finish, while opening up excellent new story arcs for future movies. We say some goodbyes, and there are moments I wanted to jump up and cheer like Jota had just twatted one into the Liverpool net.

IT'S FUCKING FABULOUS.

It was decent and a good ending to the series, but it wasn't as good as Infinity War IMO. Plus there are lots of plot holes and silliness (because of how they sort stuff out) which lessened how good it could have been.

I thought it was pretty incredible how well everything was woven together. Plot holes? I mean yeah sure a few. Overdone tropes? sure.

didn't feel at all like a 3 hour movie though, I thought it was a really good sendoff to a universe that was 10+ years in the making across what... like 20 movies? big achievement really, it definitely could have flopped easily given the expectations, but everyone I've spoken with loved it.

Going to see it on Friday, although I hadn't realised it was 3 hours long.

Watched Endgame today and thought it was pretty perfect as a way to conclude the 10 years leading up to it. I enjoyed it a lot but I would say Infinity War is a better film overall.

Just saw the trailer for the new Sonic the Hedgehog film.

Fucking hell - it looks absolutely APPALLING :icon_lol:

The only redeeming feature is Jim Carrey acting like 1990's Jim Carrey as Dr Robotnik.

Just watched this. Not that I would expect a movie about Adama the Hedgehog to be anything but naff but agree on Carrey, seems to be a proper old skool performance from him

Off to watch Endgame tomorrow lunchtime. Going to use my day off wisely in that I'm going to purchase a giant steak in the morning for after the movie experience of the year (well, until John Wick 3 comes out in a fortnight)

Dark Phoenix soon. The trailer was shown before Endgame. Marvel. X-Men. BAAAAAAAAADDDD Sophie Turner.

Ticks a whole load of the win boxes for me.

Ooooookay then, I've seen Endgame.

Cracking movie but right now I think I prefer Infinity War. Here's the thing, I think that because it's so visually stimulating, I'll rate it more highly once I watch it again when a decent copy is available for download.

Still, the taco that empties did make me laugh perhaps more than the film makers intended.
