The Film Thread

Alan - you like the prequels. Nuff said.

I saw a New Hope on the day it opened here (six months after the US premier as was normal in the seventies) I saw Empire on the day it opened. I saw Jedi on the day it opened. Maybe this colours my view of the prequels.

I still get angry about when they show the remastered IV-V-VI rather than originals. ESPECIALLY painting Hayden Christensen over the original Anakin actor at the end of Jedi. That makes me fucking FUME.

I think, as with most things, the age you experience something is hugely impactful on its place in your psyche.

It's why I end up liking TPM more than RotJ. Ep 6 just isn't untouchable to me in the same way it probably is for you. Meanwhile, Ep 1 still has a little bit of that indescribable magic for me that, for you, is probably more like an indescribable curse.

How can you possibly put Phantom Menace above Jedi? I think you should be fucking sectioned.

Yeah putting TPM anywhere near the originals is like choosing Lonergan over Patricio.

Regarding the Anakin ghost in VI, watching it in machete order (4, 5, 2, 3, 6) makes it much, much better and actually better for having Hayden Christiansen there.

Errr... Jar Jar Binks :icon_rolleyes:

He's at least actively disliked by two major characters. The Ewoks fucking defeat the Emperor's best legion of troops.

No contest in my eyes.

IV and V were the first two films I saw in a cinema (double bill). I actively refute the existence of any "prequels". That said, I do kinda enjoy TPM, but in my head canon it is just some cheesy rip off...

Something I didn't consider from the trailer... Is that the Death Star in the shot of Rey standing near an ocean?

Would make sense then that that is how Palpatine's Force ghost (or echoes, depending on how JJ plays it with the existing ideas) is involved.

It's 100% Palpatine, Ian McDiarmid walked on stage when the laugh played at the Star Wars convention....and it's been confirmed elsewhere.

I watched ROTJ on TV recently and nearly vomited up my ribcage when Vader screamed 'No!' when Luke is getting fried. LEAVE THE FUCKING FILMS ALONE!

I wish they'd release the unaltered OT. It's easy money for Disney so I'm surprised it hasn't happened.

I think Palpatine will be flashbacks and that Skywalker will be the name of Rey's Jedi Order 2.0

Nope. Not "Solo shot first". Simply "Solo shot". Greebo never had a chance to fire
